expect temperatures to nose dive from about 7pm when colder air moves back in.

Shame the shower activity has faded for tomorrow that was being predicted for most of the week! Just about sums up our winter!

Netweather.tv says torrential snow again now for Friday... :nonono:

I'm taking a rest from the models for a few days, can't see anything changing for a week at least. Then onto the next Garden path! soon be spring and convection will be the name of the game! :spiteful:

If we cant get rid of the Euro High, in cold terms, we are screwed!!!

I suspect they'll be so bored in there, they'll be posting jokes to one another..

A bit breezy this evening with clear intervals and cloud.

Had a top gust of 46mph last night though this was isolated and most gusts were in the 25-38mph range.

Very similar to the winds we had just after Christmas.

Our town weather station reported a max gust of 46mph and sustained 38mph winds in the early hours.

Where I live, if you didn't know better,  the sound of sustained winds and gusts could have fooled you into believing you were by the sea.

Wow I wonder how far away that CB was from your location!?

Erm, Ian mentioned on Points West a small risk of snow on Saturday as a front skirts along the South (rain most likely though ) . Until earlier today those fronts were expected to be over France.

Could we get an unexpected surprise rather than be frustrated at a long forecast event not happening?

I noticed the sky earlier this evening but couldn’t get s picture of it. Looked very strange with those dark orange colours.

Need to get some cold air in first if we're going to benefit from any surprise snow on Saturday.

I was surprised when potential snow for Saturday was mentioned on BBC South Today this evening as well, although again it was stressed it was most likely to be rain.

Yep good observation.. I didn’t check the radar at that time. It was Caversham looking north east, so Henley direction.. but they were massive abc photo doesn’t do it justice. Probably some distance away I bet.

Oo Saturday indeed I wonder .. I like surprises!

Well as we approach the end of this long awaited cold spell we we can all stand back and admire yet another failure in the half a decade wait for it to snow :crazy:

Who knows we might see some transitional sleet to finish it off Saturday.. What a treat. :air_kiss:
