I swear some in that thread write the headlines for the express!! It’s a storm for crying out loud, not a hurricane!

Most are upset because it doesn’t show a blizzard in their back yard, well guess what..... welcome to our world

Might as well have the storm here as we were never getting snow from that without a huge shift south. I'd rather we all got rain and wind than watch them have the snow while we get drenched here.

It’s almost impossible for us to get a snow event out of a system approaching from the west or north west, because the flow for us will always start off from the south or south west bringing warm temperatures, backedge is the best we can hope for in these setups, which is rare In itself.

What we need is embedded cold, a cold continent and a Channel low which would bring the flow off the continent. Just the way it is for us unfortunately. So I’d rather we get a decent wind storm out of it.

Guess you've got to try something to get it south of the M4. Doing nothing obviously doesn't work anymore.

Shows how dull it's been when the sunniest place in the UK today got a whopping 0.6 hours of sun.

If that happened we'd probably see something here. If we didn't it wouldn't be far to go to find it. Wishful thinking and all that... :D

Your post in the MAD thread about the ensembles wasn't so enthusiastic. Should've just posted this one instead.

After the boxing day night surprise i wouldn't write this spell off. A hell of a lot more potential energy coiled up in this long-lasting low from a cold source. fun and games ahead. thursday storm troublesome, though.

rules on snow are partially pared down when 850-1000 hectopascal layers are thinned out.. be prepared.

I have noticed in last 24 hours a slight erosion of the cold spell and it has even been delayed by another 12 hours... it was initially meant to touch down midnight monday but now it is 6pm tuesday the cold air filters in.. I really hope we dont see another non event id be tempted to give up  after another garden path trip.. :aggressive:

yeah 18z model run puts the colder 850 layer air back but i think thickness of the air mass will pull out surprises from weds onwards.

Well if models this morning are correct the cold spell is on borrowed time...

Downgrades continue. :bomb:
