Hello Mr S! (I think it’s you anyway!) What are you doing lurking in our region :pardon:

Its because someone copied his NW posts onto social media I think so he’s been advised not to. Blooming annoying - we miss you @fergieweather :sorry:

Yo yo temps here bounced up to 1.7c. A 2c rise in an hour. Bonkers. Thought my gauge would be faulty but others locally have done the same.

I've just read through the last 5 pages or so.. kinda positive. Talks of SSW end of Dec / early Jan.. although I'm not sure when we'd see the effects of it, as I'm a complete weather newb.

SSW can lead to the Holy grail! Trust me if we get a SSW, we would be extremely unlucky to not hit the jackpot!

Just my armchair opinion of course :whistling:

Come on SW England, we have to beat Wales. sennybridge already down to -8C.

Lots of lovely low dew points about too.

An aside; every car that drives down my road sounds like a tonne of gravel is being unloaded. It's  the sound of cracking slush. :D

Yes - I read that. I think (may be wrong) that it takes 2-3 weeks for a ssw effect to propagate down but at least then we would be in business!

Not been on the forums of late. Too busy with work but that hasn't stopped me keeping in touch and you can always catch my daily ramblings with my local folks on the Kilmersdon Weather Facebook Page or the Model Analysis Page I update daily on my website.

I think we got very unlucky with the snow. I personally think the Met Office got it just about right in their forecasts as areas South of the M4 and in the SW were never likely to get much if any and we didn't. I must say though that I think tonight's minima are well over egged for some away from those that have deep snow cover. There is a lot of low based cloud which is floating down in the decaying North or NW wind and while I'm sure it will disperse again it will limit the fall at least for a time. Cornwall and North Devon are susceptible to some showers too overnight, wintry I'm sure over the higher hills down there. Temperature wise I've gone from -1.8C an hour or two ago to +0.9C now as one such area of cloud is passing over. At least we've got no snow as such to worry about thawing.

Well seems we can't even manage a decent frost. Temperature was minus 3 at 6pm now it is just minus 1. :wallbash:

Temps dropping off now. -2.6. Lowest temp here this winter was Friday night/ saturday morning with a minimum of -5.4 and that didnt happent until 6am- at the time I was trying to coax a padlock to open! Lowest temps tonight predicted to be around dawn also. Not convinced it'll get a lot colder though. There isn't a cloud in the sky so I can't see what's keeping the temperatures from falling much further. Don't think Benson is going to deliver the goods tonight!
