...whilst further south the frontal systems already giving rain in the SW approaches and over NW france will encroach into southern counties as we move towards morning...The exact track of this is open to question but could give additional rain/sleetsnow to parts of the region

Rain you say, oh well that’ll be a change then..

Temperature not moving at all here at the moment. It's been stuck on 1.2°C for a while now.

Evening all, tomorrow morning's potential snow event is one of the hardest to call I've ever seen, particularly for Dorset and Hampshire. It is baffling that even the 18Z models are up to 50 miles too far south (maybe more) with the rain band over Brittany at just T3. The rain is heavy.  I'm seeing modelled temperatures for my area about 1.5C out at just T3 on some models too. The Met Office say only settling over 100 metres - well there's always 100 metres margin for error with these things. Winds are from the north, so coastal influence less of a problem. So I see perhaps a 30% chance of a substantial snow event even by the time we wake up.

I think they are using the salt that is used to stop ice forming on roads, to rub in to my wounds. :D

Just hope it's actually snow, not sleet.

Wont the approaching front draw in colder air from midlands  and wales for us?

Its the least they can do after our poor attempt at a snow fall :nonono:

Very impressive looking storm to the SW on IR satellite... hopefully it won’t intensify faster than expected having absorbed the weak secondary low several hours ahead of schedule, as that could bring more in the way of milder air around the circulation... although if the convergence line to the N was able to hold its ground that could simply serve to increase precipitation intensity while cold air feeds in from the NE... hmm yes I see why MWB considers this one of the trickiest forecasts in many a year!
