Well as a weather watching snow chasing day that was my most dispirited one yet.

The cold was never here temperatures were near 10c even now it' almost 4c. Truth was down here we were never at the game. Just bystanders looking on to see what the fuss was about.

It was a bit like being a top striker missing out on the cup final being unable to take part.

It' Great that more people than expected got snow but pig sick Cheltenham got burried. Lived there for 10 years and got nothing like that.

The previous cold spell in November was certainly colder for here so a real underwhelming day.

Where does the weather go from here, more chances tonight and tomorrow in the same places that got today

Medium term another cold shot end of the week but not as cold as this one

After that could be a slow trudge to mild and probably a slower trudge back to cold

Finally again pleased people got lucky today and I would love to be snowed in for tomorrow but alas the wait for a great snow event here goes on

Half glass empty tonight. By tuesday back on the hunt and this will merely be a flesh wound

Yes it’s been fun, possible snow, possible Mod thread Ban  but a pleasure as always to enjoy the chase with you lot. Looking forward to taking my chair back in the Mod thread in the next 24 hours or so, as you say @festivalking we look onto the next possible whiff of a cold spell.

My hopes are still high, it’s only just December and we’ve had 2 reasonable chances, the next one will see the NH even colder, perhaps this one just came a couple of weeks to soon.

cheers :drunk:

At least it wasn’t boring !

that was like an I’m a celebrity final evening remembrance speech ?

Ha yes indeed. But after the "event" has come and gone it does feel like life can get back to normal I.e not checking a myriad of apps and forums every 5 minutes......just every 10 minutes now :D

Crikey might even talk to the wife again now!!!

Cheltenham still has a snow blob over it on radar - and its still snowing lightly lol. Will I be all alone in here now? :cold:

No, we still have some small flakes falling!! Been a very good day up here, snowed heavily in the morning then fairly steady for the rest of the day, seemed to have a slight thaw mid day but have 6 inches on the ground.

We have about three inches (there will be much more than this on the hills) which, given we seem to always have less accumulation than the surrounding area, is quite remarkable. It could have been so much better than this though, given the 12 hour continuous snowfall we've had! I await the frozen shenanigans tomorrow morning.

I may have been a bit hasty.

Rain wasn’t supposed to be moving into France until after midnight according to the Aperge.

but the Netweather Radar shows it already moving through the departments of Finnistere and Morbihan

also the northwestern flank of the system showing Precip on the radar where it shouldn’t be. Might be legs in this yet. Will leave it be for a couple of hours and check back.

From my armchair of course

Still snowing near Stroud - not a lot but it has made it a little bit deeper last few hours.

Wow, it really was a winter wonderland upon waking. Brilliant!

1.0C. Roughly 1.5- to 2 inches at the moment.

I measured 2in / 5cm late morning, from memory similar to January 2013.

Probably the first time in 4 and a half years that there is a semblance of a chance I will wake up to a bit of snow.

Incredibly, bar a couple of 5 minute spells of light rain, it was actually dry all day here today! With the southern edge of the streamer streaming just a few miles to the north. I'm just pleased that the PPN was at least rain and not snow, that would've been very hard to take!

Unless there's a non-stop Bristol channel train, I'm not sure where this is coming from.

GFS 12z - xcweather. Perhaps the 18z says differently?

Problem is that Princetown is 3 miles up the hill. My weather is always a blend of what Princetown has to the north and yelverton lower down the south and yelverton weather is always wetter and milder. So all things being equal it will probably be rain and 5c!!

Ooh. Radar snow prediction had the snowline moving away North towards Birmingham and shrinking away from the North. It now has it moving South again! :nea:

Think it’s still developing, that’s my understanding anyway.. keeping an eye on Chris Fawkes tweets. Fergie doesn’t seem to interested in it tho, that’s a bad sign..
