Air temp dropped 0.6C in last half hour here, so anything falling could well be white, it's currently -0.1C.

Well initially, you can always hope.

Kinda shame it has to rain tonight as it could terminate some of the snow on the ground! (although seeing some front edge wintriness from the band isn’t unfeasible, but probably mostly for high ground)

But I guess if we do indeed get some white stuff tomorrow night it could help restore damaged snow cover!

Watch the radar as the front comes over Wales. I think there will be More snow on the front edge then they think

Radar shows ppn over us now quite moderate to heavy.

But its dry.

If this was to happen over shawbury it would be freezing rain currently at -4c still wow.

The heaviest stuff seems to be going to the north of us, and the rest fragmenting over Wales. So if it's rain we look to be missing much of it.

On 4th Dec 2010 a 7cm cover (a quarter what we have now) survived 8 hours of nonstop heavy rain, just making for more ice when it froze again the next day.

I can see things getting very messy round here if it does rain on top of substantial snow accumulations.  Let's see what happens in the next hour...

Yes that's broke up as quickly as it appeared maybe evaporating before it reached the ground, much more coming into the west,a clearer gap showing west of here, temps about 1.7c maxed at 2.5c.

Max at shawbury -4.2c.:cold:

Min last night -9 °C; max (up until now) -1 °C, which is where it still is. Still absolutely masses of snow on the ground, even with sun most of the day. This snow cover isn't going anywhere fast without persistent, heavy rain. As others have said, the rain that's actually out there to the west will do little more than make it an icefest.

No snow melt here in Stoke today which is great but noticed snow melt in Birmingham where it was warmer. Still nice and fluffy especially over the fields. Temp was -1C around 3pm.
