have been briefly looking at models, see GFS 12Z is maybe upgrading things,

I think on average GFS modeled the slider better than EC, EC was often too progressive giving us wind and rain

You guys have most of the snow - no need to rewrite history !

gfs got the slide idea better than the ecm arcing dive five/six days out but it only got the location of the slide correct at T12 !

there was a great post on the MOD earlier today on this

Both of of my Kids are off school again tomorrow.....A SNOW PLOUGH

The conditions of the school site, despite having had a snow plough on site this afternoon and significant grittingcontinues to pose a major health and safety risk and the decision has, therefore, been made for the school to remain closed tomorrow.  The enormity of the amount of snow and the size of our site are causing problems. The current condition of the pathways around the school are unsafe. The weather forecast for this evening and much of tomorrow is for sub-zero temperatures which will make road conditions hazardous. We will have further snow clearance taking place throughout the day on Tuesday and if the weather on Tuesday evening brings warmer conditions we will expect to be open on Wednesday.

My grandkids are at Knowle junior and infants...

Will they also be affected.?

They will love it!

School will be closed again tomorrow. We have tried to clear the site today but it is not fully safe and freezing temperatures expected- many apologies.

dear me never like that in my day  another snow day for the lad  3 days off in row

Our school is open tomorrow, but was closed on Friday when we only had a covering and no ice risk! Work that one out!

Nanny state.

Nah not quite a nanny state, more a state that wants to blame everyone but themselves.  In the 80s if you slipped it was your own daft fault, nowadays folk look to see who they can make a few quid from.

Tonight will be the coldest night for a fair few years now -12's is very cold BRRRR!!!!  and tomorrow will barely be above freezing :cold:

Okay Weds showing daytime temps around 4 and 5's but it's 'hardly mild' then 2's & 3's for the rest of the week and into the weekend and maybe even colder into the earlier part of next week.

I'm not  sure there will be any -12C tonight. If I recall back to 2010 where there were -12C and lower, I always noted by this point, whichever station was going to achieve such an extremely low temperatures would already be as low as around -7C even at this point of the evening.

I cannot see it falling to -12C anywhere, but maybe a -7 or -8C is possible.

Maybe it won't be Benson who steals the national top spot either. I think somewhere like Shawbury will with around -8C
