Retreating to bed for the 4am alarm. Got my shovel packed for the car as I need to get to Birmingham. Not looking forward to the return journey at 2pm hence the supplies!

Good luck and take care. Hope you have a really boring pair of journeys, just driving along half an hour behind the gritters...

Same to everyone who has to go out in Weather in the next few days.

For those saying Shrops is going to get hit are we talking tonight, tomorrow daytime or on the weekend?  Some forecasts are saying nothing here tonight.  Makes quite a big difference as to whether I try and get down to London first thing tomorrow morning...

Temperature now 2.6C > Dew point now -1.8C.    Pretty certain that anything falling will now be snow.

Yep, 3am seems to be when it kicks off... but that has been forecast for a good long whil so with luck the gritters will have gone out after midnight and you'll be fine for getting a bit south-and-west onto the motorways safely...

Just a reminder GFS is the furthest North with that slider. ECM and UKMO further south, BBC and MET-O warning areas further south.

GFS not rated, but could be right, but gives all of us snow depth amounts

Latest GFS still showing snow for the northern Midlands, with further snowfall on Monday. In the nearer timeframe it looks as if the western side of the Midlands could get a lot of snow showers tonight and tomorrow. I expect somewhere such as Cannock Chase may look nice tomorrow morning with a good blanket of snow covering the forest and any snow that falls is unlikely to thaw much tomorrow given the cold temperatures. This may be the focal point for my venture out tomorrow and if so, it will make a change from the Peak District. I will await to see where the Cheshire gap streamer sets up.

Plenty of showers moving towards me now, but still of a rainy/sleety nature. I expect them to turn to snow not long after midnight.

Shropshire's in an interesting position for the weekend.

On the 18z, it is south enough to be in the Cheshire Gap snow at 3am on Sunday:

But it's also north enough to be in this 9am immediately after!

What stunning images. Magical

Last thing,  a screen shot from my phone (net weather snow radar) see what's over Northern Ireland....that's what I'm hoping for tomorrow morning and continuing for the rest of the day.

:D

GFS wobbling about like a jelly, as usual. Gets on my nerves!

Snow more likely after midnight tonight, as the trough from the north approaches.

Indeed the 18z has less snow for my location burton on trent on sunday which sucks abit to be fair. But still a chance of some decent snow just not those crazy totals of earlier runs.

Just hope it doesn't miss alltogether which has been the norm for many years now.

Fingers crossed.

Hi Mary

Yea I agree the 06/18 both have a tendency to deamplify the flow somewhat and I'm sure we will see a southward shift in the morn, always have done, think the mids is in the sweet spot this wkend, with your elevation I think you could see 8-10inches tbh
