My brother near Kettering says he has a few cm's and the power lines are hanging low and heavy with it.
Things look bad on the A14.

Nothing here. Quite pleased actually as I'm in work today and could do without having to clear the car.

The weather is strange! Hard really to think of a good reason why there has been no snow in the Derby area but lots in the Northampton area? I suppose with hindsight people would be able to come up with reasons (?) but no one could have predicted this. I suppose it is why we find it so fascinating! Winter 2017/18 in the Derby area, whilst better than the preceding 3 years, has been a frustrating case of what might have been. On the very edge of the earlier Midlands snow slider (we got about 2cms where I live. By 10am we were sledging over mud on the local park) and, last night, I didn't see a single flake.

8 hours ago, At least it will be mild said:

The BBC weather called it pretty well.  I to 2 cm in some areas, rain or sleet for most.  Not sure where all this talk of 15-20 cm came from. .

It was Chris Fawkes on Twitter who said 15/20cm. He actually said 20/30cm!

Maybe that’s what fell from the sky but didn’t settle? Just a thought.

Did Stoke get any snow? Or have I taken all the Stokie snow to London with me?

Nothing here although The Wrekin nearby has a covering.

Pity as was hoping to see something wintry before I head back to Madrid, but just light sleety rain in the end.

Never settled here either. It turned to what looked like pure snow in the early hours, but it was far too wet and not cold enough. Oh well at least we had the 10th Dec event here, which is more than what many have had so can't moan really.

5cm of snow here earlier ( now just over 4cm ) despite most of the heavier stuff going further south ( much like the last event earlier in December ) There doesn't appear to be any lying snow in this area below about 220m.

Well another dose of disappointment for the city of Nottingham weatherwise, went to bed to heavy rain & woke up to heavy rain. travelled into work, car saying its 0 outside all the way (not the most reliable I know) but not a single flake in the rain. Made even more bizarre by places not that far away having heavy snow. As others have mentioned there are no doubt scientific reasons why Nottingham is getting heavy rain at zero degrees & other places are getting snow but just so disappointing when its such fine margins.

After the disappointment of the last snow event where again Nottingham found itself on the edge, getting a couple of cms at most I have definitely decided that west is not best for us in Notts. We need a beast from the East or a decent Northeasterly to get a North Sea streamer going, sadly I probably have more chance of winning the lottery than seeing either of those this winter

This is the scene on the A14 from M6 towards Northampton. Nothing has moved Westbound bar one vehicle. Seems to have had a good dumping there.

It's not the ice holding up the traffic - it's Chris Fawkes with his ruler !!!

December 2017 proof you don't need uppers -10 degree level and a raging easterly/north easterly to produce heavy snow to low levels in southern/central england. Just the right synoptics..

If it had been Jan, Feb or March, the snow would have stuck around much longer and a very wintry month for some, but alas Dec and quite early in the season still. Some places in the midlands I think have had three decent snow events already.. in the last 4 winters, many couldn't have said even one! We have three months left as well - March equally likely to bring snow as Dec especially first half.
