Shortest day 9.6 c here already, and just about to get ready to go on my longest bike ride of the year (100 miles) in to Brum via the canal then out to Draycote water. Hopefully catch up later ?‍♀️?‍♀️?

ps all snow has now gone ?

usually think once we get past shortest day, lower chance of cold/snow, looks to be no different this year, looks like balmy January

The last few patches of snow thawed yesterday afternoon here but considering the mean depth was never greater than 11cm they lasted a remakably long time once the mild weather arrived.

11c and sunny here, not going to lie this is nice. Very rare to have both sunny and mild weather in winter. Usually it's mild and unsettled or cold and sunny.

There's still a chance of some snow on Tuesday night/  early Wednesday morning, particularly on high ground, according to the latest GFS run. ECM takes it further south than our region but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Temperature a bit lower today and more breeze.

Currently at 7.3C with a moderate westerly beginning to mix up the cloud.  May get some sun later if the Welsh mountains do their job.

Looking at the event for Tues/Wed. It looks much better for us in the Central Midlands if the ECM comes off.

Could be a mini repeat of last week.

There is still time for upgrades to a genuine Channel low on that chart. (Forget the uppers)!!

It is allowed to ramp on here isn't it?

GFS looks snowy for parts of the Midlands on Wednesday. I'm in London for Christmas so will miss any snow.

Think the system will end up further south, we cannot be lucky twice

GFS 12Z, shows a good event for Midlands, different to 10th Dec though, as this will start as rain, as air isn't cold ahead of the slider
