6-7 cm of fresh snow now after a spell of heavy snow in the last hour. Light snow falling now and not much more to come by the look of the radar. Temp' is 0.0c.

Lots of snow around Buxton with some of the heaviest snow I have seen in a long time between about 9:30 and 10am. Easily 7cm on the ground in the centre, more outside of the town.

I am now stuck in Buxton awaiting the AA to arrive as my car decided it couldn't take any more. If I get started again I have to then get home.

Sometimes I wonder why I do it to myself. Worth it though I guess.

A very good spot.

I went to bed with temperature at -3.0C (min -3.1c) and a DP at -5.0C.

Was woken at 7:30 with rain.

The temperature is now 3.8C and the DP is 3.4C. Incredibly quick change.

MIA

Hi MIA AND ALL,

Always knew that change (temps) would be quite rapid....Anyway It's been great so far this Winter and we are only 1/3rd parts into it and another thing I'm loving is the fact that the jet is well south from where it's been over the last few years, if you have the Jet steam dropping just south of the UK from time to time the chances are high that we have being seeing them lovely lows flowing with the jet and because we are on the cold side of the jet....It Always = SNOW :yahoo: OK marginal sometimes for some of us, but I really think we haven't seen the last of these set ups yet  (SLIDERS).....LONG MAY IT CONTINUE THIS WINTER

Said be careful Supercel! Just managed to get back home after a walk on the High Peak trail up the road from me with 4x4 very bad on roads with A515 realy struggling with lorries and strandad cars. Snow has eased here now. Time for a sauage sandwich and a brew!

No snow here in Denby but it was a tricky drive to work in Derby with sleet falling on the frozen ground making for ice rink conditions.Still plenty of icy patches around now.Currently cloudy here with occasional sleet or rain and a keen wind.

Raw outside in the wind here which has picked up in the past 2 hour. Feels colder than nights of late.

The ECM & UKMO have this storm Dalyn further north but I can't truly tell because when you look at the ECM/UKMO charts by 13:00 Sunday Storm Dalyn is in the North Sea.

great vid, thanks, hope you got back safe and cars working again

Thanks, you too produced a great vid. Very similar conditions in both locations i think.

I got back safe but the car will need a new battery. The cold killed it.

10C now, can tell January is approaching, 2018, no doubt records set Jan to March, and again Nov and Dec, of max temp of some kind being broken

must have gone up on average 0.2C, even since TMW began around '99, enough to give rain in marginal setups, rather than 80's-90's snow

10.2c here and not sure when next cold spell is coming. December good round here though ,not confident for cold January/February like the good old winters but here’s hoping ?

1.5cm of fresh snow here early this morning but once it had cleared the temperature rose rapidly and there's been a steady thaw all morning, still more than 50% cover though.Cloudy and breezy with showers of rain at the moment. Temp; is 8.2c.

90's ruled! still remember this day 22 years ago, what's happened to E'lys, then systems pushing up from the SW against the beast!
