Just started here in Oundle and it's.... RAIN  I expected it to start as sleet or snow here as it's East Midlands but nope, just plain old rain. May well be freezing rain as the temp is still below 0c.

This is my first new year since 2012 that I am not spending up at Darwin Forest! (My profile pic was taken up there a few years ago) Gutted I'm missing this event! ☹️

Yes be careful if heading out it' all roads and lanes are covered up here already with moderate snow continuing.

Very icy under thin layer of snow. untreated roads and lanes are treacherous, a few fender benders for the unwary this morning

3 to 4cm of fresh snow here with moderate snow still falling.  It looks from the radar as though it may clear from the west in the next hour. Temp' is 0.1c

1.6c when I got up with looked like a slow thaw, then thick fog freezing fog higher up and light snow falling looks like an extra dusting.

0.4c reminds me of a morning way back in 1986 in april, except the wind is from the NW not east.

Yes missed out today. But how can some of us midlanders complain? We have seen such a snowy December. We had snow showers 7/8 Dec, 10 Dec massive snowfall (10 inches), 13 Dec backedge snow and Boxing Day (2 inches).

The best December since 2010 and possibly the third best since 2000? After 2009, 2010

DWW

A very good spot.

I went to bed with temperature at -3.0C (min -3.1c) and a DP at -5.0C.

Was woken at 7:30 with rain.

The temperature is now 3.8C and the DP is 3.4C. Incredibly quick change.
