It's ok if it's cold and dry. Mild winter weather is normally wet though.

Always a big difference between my work and my home. A distance of 3 miles. Completely clear at work but quite a bit of snow and a lot of ice where I live. Absolute ice rink. Very dangerous.

And mine, known snow at home (104m asl) rain town at 81m asl

Temperature has just dipped below freezing. All the remaiming patchy snow and ice is frozen solid. Stoke's climate is a bit of a shock to a Londoner. Brr!

Surprising amount of snow and ice left in shrewsbury out of the wind in the shady areas protected by hedges/trees etc,the open fields are mostly green exposed to the wind which thaws the snow so fast as the sun isn`t going going to make much difference as its so low and weak this time of year.

Well -0.6c min early last night and even had a small dusting of snow, looked like frost on the path.

About 70% snowcover left.

Now snowing.

Yeah looks like a few showers on the radar this morning. Losing intensity inland earlier so maybe more showers to come.

A few light snow flurries here earlier this morning but, like Thursday morning, the bulk of the showers have moved through Staffordshire and into the West Midlands. I can't complain though, there's still a 70% cover of frozen snow here and the higher hills a few miles to the north are 100% covered.

Hovering around 0c here with Dp -1c. Still alot of ice on the lanes and well compacted snow in places with tiny patches of snow still laying all around in the fields.

Still got about 1 cms of snow on my veg patch, and very small circles on the lawn, where the grandkids missed when making a snowman. He has just lost his head  today!.

The roads also contain more than is safe of ice around here, particularly if they are west to east with shelter on the southern side.

The snow will have lasted for a week here with only a very small top-up. That hasn't happened too many times except in the notable cold periods.

Tempof 1.8C and dp of  +0,3C

Very noticeable height factor in today's snow and ice. In Hanley no ice and snow, 1/2 mile the slush was evident on the road and as you approached Brown Edge there was full snow cover.

Climbing up onto the tops they had a mini blizzard in the morning which dumped a few CM so a very wintery scene in thick fog.

Snow and ice seems to last longer here in Longton than in Hanley. Still patches left.

Pretty foggy tonight.

Yeah, still got a bit of snow here too (7days). It will be gone by tomorrow I think.

Foz..

Yep same here.

I have never known snow to last so long in Warwick, after warmer air has moved in.

Todays rainfall has all but removed the remaining snow - now down to a few patches. Drizzle still occurring now

Temperature has risen to 5.3C after the early frost.

Unless we get a hard frost tonight we will be snowless tomorrow.

Yes same here. I noticed yesterday that despite there been hardly any snow left generally, there are some corners and patches that have held up really well. On some of the slopes coming down from the canal side near here, there was almost pristine looking snow cover still, as if that small area was in it's own mini microclimate unaffected by the area around it. We haven't seen snow on the ground this long in December since 2010. Or for that matter we haven't seen snow on the ground this long at any time since March 2013.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
