signs of a thaw at just 1C, but dewpoints the key, must be above 0, expect very little snow by morning, east, loads west

At a rough guess i would expect 50-75% of the snow lost by the time the rain moves through

Quite wet here, with the rain having made a significant impact on the snow. Still full cover as it was so deep to start with. I'll go and measure it later on, I think. 2 °C now.

not so much the rain that thaws it, but the less cold air/dew points, snow would thaw just as quick if dry and cloudy at 4C

Knowing Glossop, you'll probably surpass it and get around 20 inches. Bloody narnia up there

Didn`t really expect snow anyone tonight,3.1c now suppose to clear by 2am,but getting more cloudy by morning more showers.

Clear tomorrow off and get some colder air in into Thursday with some more wintry/snow showers, some or most lying snow being optimistic will hang around until sunday/Monday.

Just looking at the met Office weather for the next few days it’s unlucky really, because this cold spell could of been awesome ? still pretty good thou. Let’s hope the Pattern resets and as we head in to winter ❄️It gets  even better ❄️??

A short spell of wet snow, then sleet, here as the front moved through. Temp' is now up to 0.8c with a slow thaw.

Genuinely sad that we're losing the snow :sorry: I love it, and the last few days have been brilliant. Too bad our climate rarely allows for prolonged periods of deep cold.

You can hear the snow melting now but looking outside there's still quite a lot of cover for now. Don't know what to expect left by morning, though I don't expect it will have gone entirely. Where it's been cleared and piled and of course any fair sized snowmen should stick around for a while yet I'd imagine. Though hopefully we might get some more fresh snow tomorrow perhaps to further lengthen this current period with snow cover in the area.

Having just gone from west mids to east id say half the snow has melted roughly not raining as much now but temps have been 3-4c and probably wont be below freezing until early hours thurs at best. Not expecting many snow covered fields by the end of tomorrow. Shame we dont see snow build up over a period of a few weeks.

I went out about an hour ago. The rain had stopped but it was still dank and unpleasant, with dripping everywhere.

Snow depth was 17 cm this morning on an untouched pavement in my road. Now down to 10-11 cm. Obviously much less in places that had been driven/walked on.

This is depressing. Just looked out my bedroom window, sound of dripping coming from everywhere! Snow is thawing rapidly, can't see much being left by tomorrow afternoon. Was a good event in the end though, just wish we could see snow stick around for weeks rather than melt after 2-3 days.

Pretty much the scene in my back garden now... :sorry:

Rain has stopped, sky is clearing (though a bit misty), snow cover has barely been touched, just bits falling off trees. Temp is dropping and its still frozen underfoot- that really low minimum last night has surely helped prevent too much melting.

Hi Guys...

Up very early trying to install IE 11 whilst its quiet.

Temp dropped from 3.1 to 2.6C now. DP at 1.0C

No stars visible as it looks fairly misty.

Will it fall low enough to refreeze?

If so it will become extremely icy by morning.

MIA
