Lovely blue skies there PM, they are just coming into play here.

Lovely SAT image showing the snow cover across Wales and just coming into our region https://en.sat24.com/HD/en/gb/visual#

It's certainly the most I can remember seeing in Shrewsbury area since I moved here in Nov 1987.

Now 28cm/11" and still snowing

January 1987 didn`t produce a foot more like 10 inches here, and feb 1991 less, january 1985 about 10 inches same goes for February 1985,excluding the massive drifts of course.

No measuring stick here but this was a bench at work:

I'd say thats at least 30CM if not more? The plough has been in the car park, pushed all the snow up the sides meaning no one can park properly! Really impressive depth and such powdery snow.

Sadly a bit of an anti-climax for us over in Nottingham, yes it snowed yesterday but nothing like what was predicted, enough to make it look pretty but not much else. By all accounts the weather system sat further south, moving Nottingham from being in the sweet spot to being right on the edge. Jealous of you lot further south/west

However it does mean we had more snow yesterday than in the whole of the winter last year. Im not sure I even saw a flake in winter 2016/17, so signs are good seeing as its still very early in the Winter. Just wish the hype had  matched the reality for us in Nottingham yesterday

Final measurement - 20cms on flat table, close to a foot (10 inches) on the grass. Snow looks stunning today in the sunshine.

Fluctuating around 0c here.  Still have snow cover so no big thaw yet.

Forecast -9c overnight :cold:   A little confident that the snow cover will stick around for a little while longer. Looks quite a event across the region, best seen for years!

Hi guys....

Ended up passing grandkids over at Keele as the  A5 was still dodgy between Llangothlan(?) and Wrexham,

Nowhere near the snow as south of Birmingham but the temp was lower as the skies were crystal blue. My windscreen washers  froze on the way up (Temp around -2C whereas about -0.5c at home).

On the way back the temp exceeded zero on the M6 Toll, and is about 0.5 to1.0C now at home.

Went outwith Tape measure at 13:15 and it was now a level 20 cms, after a clear compression this morning of about 3cms (could tell from where I had cleared earlier).

It was definitely still snowing heavily here at 04:15 (quite big flakes, blown by a strong wind) .. and I suspect many other places south/west from Bham, so it was defo a 24 hour event for many..

Just seen BBC talking of -12C tonight for us!.

Really will go into my memories as a notable spell.

To think we were told cold-weather and snow was a thing of the past about 10-12 years ago.

Not for us in Nottingham, the little snow that did fall yesterday is virtually gone now , very jealous reading feedback from the rest of the midlands, plenty of winter left for us in the East though so fingers crossed our time will come but disappointed by another near miss which like you say appears to be the best seen for years for many in the region

Can anyone tell me what conditions are like in Telford?

Most main roads are OK.... cant comment on side roads but untreated ones are most likely still lethal.

Well, ended up with around 6 inches, and then another inch fell on top last night. Temps are up to 1.2'c here and there's a slight thaw, but the pavements are starting to freeze up again, and the town centre is a death trap! Seriously, there's been no attempt to clear any paths around the precinct , and all the footpaths are sheet ice!

Ahh, just dropped to 1.1'c now
