Doing a night shift in a care home in Oundle (near Peterborough) tonight. A small band of snow is right on our doorstep! I keep checking the window when my collegues aren't looking ?

The trough just passed and it was blizzard like conditions for a few minutes and left a light covering on grass, roofs and cars, and looks like more to come looking at the irish sea :).

It's pelting with rain. Please tell me this is just a tease and it does have snow following it...

Good to see that the Shrewsbury snow shield still works

Snow melting slowly as temperatures are not at freezing but looking better today especially later as temperatures looking even lower so snow will settle better.

EDIT - Now sleet

Steady light-moderate rain here in Bewdley. Maybe a few sleety flakes in there, but I can't be bothered to look properly. If the precip type radar says it's snow here, then I'm afraid it's dead wrong. It ain't.

I'm not especially disappointed, as I didn't expect anything tonight anyway. It'd be nice to see a flurry or two tomorrow, but it'll need to get colder than this.

Just woke up to get ready for work to a light covering of snow. Bit of a gap in the radar now but sure some showers will get going later.

One advantage of working this early is that the roads are empty.

Well it was pretty rubbish in end for me thats the lot for the night none of it settled. When you have such a Good forecast and then it downgrades hour apon hour is abit gutting.

Temp due point conditions and forecast were all great which was worst bit.

Nothing on radar for time being.

Have this sinking feeling about sunday and onward for same old story.

Would love to be proved wrong on the day.

Congrats to all that had a decent amount.

Just hope these brilliant early winter charts arent duds in the long term.

It did actually turn to snow towards the end, but too little too late. But why was it rain to start with- it was snowing in the evening and was supposed to be getting colder?

Genuinely gutted for the people reporting sleet and rain and gobsmacked tbh, when I looked out the window I thought everyone who was getting the showers would be getting snow too

Snowing quite heavy in Craven Arms a few minutes ago when I let the dogs out.....much to their absolute disgust!! :nonono: Wet snow but settling on the decking :yahoo:If it carries on the dogs will have me digging the garden up so their bums don't get cold in the morning :rolls eyes:

Some really beefy showers around the Dee Estuary now heading this way. I think what will hurt snow amounts today is how quickly the showers are moving. Heavy snow in them but only hanging around long enough for quick coverings. But it could get interesting again soon.
