I  wonder how many people in Norway or Sweden read these threads for giggles

It is a shame really with the wind veering north and then north east showers will become more widespread across the region, but the parameters for snow will become less favourable so showers by sunrise will probably be of rain at low levels, this shown on the models today with the couple of centimetres becoming around a centimetre at best which will melt tomorrow.

So in short, if you get snow which settles, go out late tonight and enjoy it. :)

By the way a good Wash streamer which is affecting the Cambridge area and areas in line with this and the wash as well as showers further east.

Imagine knowing you were going to have snow on the ground for 6 months of the year, there wouldn't really be much excitement in "chasing" the snow through looking at the models etc..

I think the reason we love snow is because it's quite rare, I'm not sure I'd change that for anything. Except maybe a bit more snow.

I'd gladly swap our summer for their winter

What I love when snow starts to fall across our region is everyone forgets about what the models are showing in FI for a day or so

Maybe that’s why we don’t check the radar every 5 mins to see if it’s going to rain in summer ?

Temperature is a tad too high here feels freezing out there nonetheless icy cold rain it’s very light, needs more intensity it’s horrid it embodies everything foul & how our winters have turned since after 12/13.

Just as a little bit of nostalgia, what was the best snow fall you can distinctly remember? For me it was November 82 when i lived in St Albans , the hill at the bottom of our street froze solid for a week, helped by us kids pouring water on it.

There have plenty of heavy snow events in the London area in my 44 years on this planet so far, and there'll be more to come. I reckon this year might see a good event. The models are all over the place, if a southerly jet fires up and high pressure to the NE....it's certainly not a 'normal' early December pattern showing.

NovemberDecember 2010 stands out the best in recent memory, we had just under 1 foot here thanks to a Thames Streamer!

Going back further the 2nd best in my life time was February 1990 or 1991, can't quite remember the exact date i was only 7. I Remember being in the back of our car driving to Luton airport down the A12 with just a tractor in front of us clearing a path. And the terminal building had the biggest icicles I've ever seen, getting on for 2ft easy! We never seem to get Icicles anymore, I remember houses were covered in them and i used to lean from my bedroom window, snap them off and bring them inside
