Had some really heavy rain recently with a couple of rumbles of thunder to boot . This is  a screen shot I’ve just taken but the thunder was a while ago so this has moved on from me .

It feels like it’s been raining for days a miserable end to 2017 weather wise one to forget nothing stands out to me apart from the red sun and the very decent early summer warmth.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year time flies by it needs to stop! Almost 5 years since I’ve been a user on this forum, I don’t know where the time has gone. And in that time still no decent snow cover!..

It's been a truly dreadful weather day here in East Sussex.

However after 7 and 1/2 years of trouble free motoring I finally chopped in my faithfull Volvo and changed to a newer Honda CR-V yesterday so despite the weather I've been happily out driving all afternoon. Some roads are pretty atrocious.

Happy New Year one and all. :hi:

I had some fizz.

It rained hard this morning and again this afternoon, nice yellow sky.

I like it hard.

Very encouraging signs from the models now. It looks odds on a Scandinavian block will form next weekend. This will bring an easterly air flow across our region, which is always better for cold and snow. However, the continent is currently much warmer than average, so we need the block to orientate SW/NE to drag in colder upper air from Scandinavia. The Met Office seem confident we will see some very cold air, so this may be one of the outcomes. It’s certainly the best chance for our patch in a very long time. Many twists and turns to come, but I’m feeling much happier at the moment.

Im hearing the first fireworks, do I win?

Judging by the wind blowing at the min I think fireworks will be few and far between. At least it' s stopped raining.

We will see at midnight. I am so bored by myself tonight, I've just spent half an hour trying to feed a cream filled chocolate eclair to my seagull, but I have the only seagull in the world who hates chips, doughnuts, pastries and stuff like that, he got very angry and refused to eat it.:D

Let's just hope it's not another wtf moment the day before caused by a small shortwave low Turing the easterly to a northerly. Although as I recall it was still a very potent cold spell, just not the one the mod thread expected.
