A wee bit on the grey side, light-moderate SW'erly zephyr, and already up to 13C!

Not to worry. Weekend here soon and back to cold and bright(hopefully).

Seems to be a rut we’re stuck in at the moment.

Chance of some sleet Saturday morning over high ground, perhaps even ground level in favoured parts of the SE. :yahoo:

You may be being humorous, but if not, why is sleet exciting? I can understand excitement about snow, but sleet? It's horrible!

not if you have a new hat, scarf and gloves to match new coats it isn't.

It's seasonal.:santa-emoji:

You must look very trendy in all your new gear? Ready for winter. Sleet will give the new outfit a test, rather it snowed though, much more fun. Sleet is just wet and cold.

Trendy? My dear SB a lady of my age isn't 'Trendy' she's 'Stylish'

and warm.

Of course I would prefer snow, duh, given.

Merry Christmas:cold-emoji:

What a bore fest the last 48 hours have been! Grey skies and the temp not moving by day or night, stuck between 11.3C and 11.9C. So personally I'm looking forward to a bit of variety over the coming days. Starting tomorrow with strong winds arriving, and hopefully a surprise flake or two of snow over the weekend. (The weekend will be getting into the range of the high res models soon, starting with the Arpege 12z this evening).

Here's the wind gusts around the Region for the early hours of Thurs:

Stylish it is, then. My apologies. Enjoy the seasonal weather in your new clothes. Think we might see something wintry this year, Merry Christmas to you, too (you know it's still November, don't you?)!

It's a start and it's only November :friends:Most of the surprise snowfall events started as sleet.....ok that's a little too far, bit it can sometimes be the first piece of the long puzzle :pardon:

There is that hope. I hate sleet though. One excellent snow event I remember from the mid-80's started off as heavy rain, rained for hours before turning to snow in the evening. Snowed all night and there was 6 inches laying by morning....

The Arpege shows very slight accumulation over the North Downs, I presume above 200m or thereabouts. Possibly quite a few of us could see some flames following a deluge..

Interesting, the storm tomorrow doesn't have a name, thus no real mention in fact  everyone I spoke to today didn't believe me when I said it may be a tad windy tomorrow...

I have to say, the weather has been some what "placid?" over the last week or so, although the frosts have been welcome...

Certainly won't be many leaves left on the trees come Thursday morning..

I always take the Arpege with a pinch of salt on wind speeds as it like to over cook them..

Tomorrow 10am

30-40mph gusts starting to move into western areas of our Region...

gustkph_022.jpg?2017112112

By 2pm gusts have increased across the whole region, exposed coasts 50mph inland 40-45mph

gustkph_026.jpg?2017112112

Typical Autumn storm... So far... But overnight as the associated front(s) clear East it gets a tad more blowly... I think some hefty showers ratteling through also

11pm through to around 2am sees a swathe of much stronger winds... which eventually clears out East by Thursday morning.

60-70mph possible along coasts even some inland areas seeing high end 50s

Net weathers model does actually follow quite Similar to the Arpege though..

9am                                                           12pm                                                     3pm                                                           9pm (notice that patch of stronger winds around the south coast)     midnight

Netweather NMM ImageNetweather NMM ImageNetweather NMM ImageNetweather NMM ImageNetweather NMM Image

So my general thought is 40mph in the morning inland increasing to around 55mph MAX evening time... possible a 60mph somewhere probably over my house, seems I live in some kind of giant wind tunnel 2 storms ,some how, Heathrow has taken top wind speed inland

Along the coast 50mph in the morning increasing to mid 60s by evening may be right out in the most exposed needle 70mph..

So generally not to bad, but we are talking about high winds for a long period of time which could cause a bit of trouble...
