What is the reliability of the BBC Weather app?

For basic forecasts they're good for showing rain, sun, temperature etc..

But in a setup like this when rain, sleet or snow could be falling out of the sky depending on your elevation, evaporative cooling etc.. they're useless, it's just too complicated a setup for the apps/models to forecast accurately.

sleet in Worthing.

Don't know the temperature, but it must be close to freezing

Not as windy as I thought it might have been (so far)

Chucking it down with rain for hours here in Surbiton accompanied by what looks like a strong wind judging by the trees blowing around. As others have said, what might have been if all of this was falling as snow:( Not looking forward to the drive from here to Epsom for the college run then up to Uxbridge for work, then back again within the next five hours.

Precipitation is now snow in Worthing, still not settling.

I have a good view of the downs from my college but the cloud is too low to see them :wallbash:

I don't think there are any wind warnings today which is quite a surprise as the gusts are 50 to 60mph now in our corner of the world. Very unpleasant drive up to Ashford earlier, the wind was only noticeable when I got back to nearly New Romney. Fingers crossed for the recycling bins and few are already leaving home in our road

I'm glad i didn't just miss the warnings then! I bet it was nightmare on that Brenzett road to New Romney, open field for miles either side always blows the cars about.

It's like a recycling bin massacre out there now! bins banging and crashing about and recycing flying about everywhere.

I'm just greatfull the binmen get to me quite early, hate to think what places with later collections will look like !

That’s quite impressive the Met Office expected nothing but rain and sleet below 100m. So once more they’re wrong again after the constant washout they had for me yesterday.

Turning a bit sleety here oooooo! :yahoo::crazy:

Honestly I’m quite surprised folk are seeing snow to sea level in places with these dew points.

My dew point at home is 0.7C right now so I suspect any flakes getting through are those that hadnt quite melted on the way down!

We did see 30 minutes of mainly snow earlier here.
