After the temperature reaching a high of 8.2ºc at 23:30 this evening, the temperature is slowly beginning to drop now with, as Steve said, reports of snow in the SW, it looks like things are currently on the positive side of marginal.

The ppn is pivoting over the Cheltenham area, so hopefully the intensity will remain as the cold air starts to push South and Eastwards.
Still a case of nowcasting, but we should all at least see some snow falling, shame it is two days late!

I like these events not any real pressure for it to deliver, perhaps so for the Midlands lot don’t expect much and sometimes you get a shock of your life. Even in this digitalised age surprises are still possible.

Hey @Sno'problem. Same here, ive been in a 'dry' slot for a while now and temps have taken a tumble! Interesting how this event is going to unfold?

Very true, it's the surprise snowfalls that are most memorable, besides, it's probably the reason most of us are on this forum!

The temps are really beginning to drop, we just need the dewpoints to fall away faster. It has dropped 0.5ºc in the past 45 mins, but we need a far faster drop for anything to settle, otherwise all the heavier ppn is going to have moved through.

Precip type on the NW radar seems hit and miss. Snow showing where rain is falling and vice versa, though leaning towards the latter.

Motorway webams are a fairly decent indicator in live time. Heavy snow on M4 near Bath ATM which can only bode well for the cold air getting involved with the heavy stuff as it pivots back and heads towards the SE.

Temps dropping by 0.1ºc every five minutes at the moment, could be very interesting in the morning.

For once I am not looking forward to this colder spell unless we get our heating fixed tomorrow afternoon. I can feel the dropping of temperature here although have no record of it. Don't get me wrong I would love to wake to a covering here but 1 I doubt it will taken anyway and 2 it will be a bit nippy here in the morning :cold-emoji:

Here is an example of how quickly temperatures are dropping to the West, all the weather stations to the West of our region are now at temps where snow will start settling if the ppn is heavy enough: http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/

Looking quite positive for our region, as long as the ppn band keeps it's intensity as it moves over.
