how is it supposed to flogging snow when it's 7.8c and still flogging rising, for flog sake.

The temps were never going to be right for any of us until at least 3am from any of the models. We are currently getting warmer winds from the SW... as soon as the low shifts Eastwards, it will pull the colder air in behind and then the chances of wintry ppn is on.

Until then, it is a case of seeing how things are progressing. We MIGHT be in for a surprise IF the cold air digs in fast enough and the precipitation is heavy enough. Otherwise it's yet another near-miss!

The centre of circulation is obvious on this radar grab

so the whole of the SE is being pumped with SW winds ATM

The wrap around is approx Bristol up to Hereford - that’s going to take about 8-10 hours to sweep across to us...

So about 9am ish Steve?

I think that the times on Meteociel are French time, so they are an hour ahead of us anyway.:D

It's the old German DWD model revamped. Often quite close to the ecm output but not as good. I think it verifies below ukmo and similar to gfs

Thanks BA. Another one to keep an eye on then!

Where are you now? Waterloo I hope??! :D

Everything seems to be going slightly ahead of plan, with temps lower than forecast, so all to play for still.

The winters down south are disgusting you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

lol

Here's an golden oldie of the snow accumulations in the March 2013 slider. Never gonna get that in London.

And I'm technicallly 175m asl, not bad for the suburbs.

That's obviously more snow than 9" in the pic I posted, here's a side view, there was well over 40cm on that day.

I think I had near 40cm on that date I’m not entirely sure never measured it, all I know there was a crazy amount of snow. London can get a lot of snow if everything falls in place, contrary to popular belief! However that was the most disruptive snow since 1991? So quite a wait I’m waiting for the next big one. :D

A lot of people on the Midlands thread are reporting very little settling snow.

The wrap around does not favour a lot of the Midlands.. unlike last time those that did very well not so this time. I’m fairly hopeful for us lot for at least some falling snow, will set an alarm for 0700.

Some fairly potent showers in the balmy south east albeit it won’t be balmy for long almost torrential here a short while ago. Seems there’s a bit of instability associated with this system.

There is one reason why we (I) do this......one day in our very small part of the world and even the UK ( South East ) we will experience a weather event that is beyond 'normal'. It maybe beyond normal Wind, rain, heat, cold along with Thunder Storms and Snow Fall but we will all be here, lurking and / or posting because, if we dont, we might not experience an event to share with this great community! Local Knowledge in our 'marginal' location is key! If its rain, snow or slush tomorrow lets raise a glass or two ( or several) to all that contribute on a daily basis in this thread ( Im hoping i have more time to do so now).....Legends! Im not sure what i will be eventually waking to tomorrow morning,  but i know i will be waking several times during the night because i know anything can happen and how marginal things are.....its exciting......bloody weather!?❤

I've seen that much snow in London, right in the centre, although it was in the 80s lol.

Good point but I was in Croydon then, knee high snow. Not sure I'll ever see that again.
