Today has been interesting! Left home at 8am this morning to heavy sleet and arrived down at work in town to find just rain.

It then snowed and rained off and on all day, never settling at work as it was too warm.

This evening, got home to some snow on the ground! Not a lot, no more than a cm or two but still snow!

It is going to be lethal out there in the morning if the temperature stays low and my Suzuki Swift is no 4x4

My mother also washed, cleaned etc, outside of school hours

but still didn’t speed down an icy road without a care in the world (my original post)

feel free 4x4 Mother’s - to rip me apart how you justify speeding down an icy road whilst us (mere mortals) take care!

you missed my point- i agree that speeding down an icy road in a 4x4 is idiotic but to call any mother "jobless" whether she has money or is just at home struggling to look after the house and kids while her husband brings in a modest wage, is an insult to mothers in general.

I didn’t call ‘any’ mother jobless

I called the 4 yummie mummies at the bottom of my road jobless. Which I can confirm over the past 3 years “they are!”

bobby I wished you read my original post properly!

Of course there are strong working mothers (my mother)

i was mearly pointing out the arragaonce of jobless mothers in 4x4s in my area.

Im sorry if I caused you offence, no intention. Apologies

-0.7 and dp -1. Could've done with this when we had precip ? The chickens are silent and it feels colder than the temps suggest.

Yep, can we keep this a bit more friendly and a bit more related to weather please. Off topic is fine to a point, but when it gets to the point where it's 2 people just having a bit of a rant at eachother, then perhaps take that to pm so those not involved can continue to enjoy the thread.

-2.0c here. Frozen slush and very icy on untreated surfaces.

I fear the NHS could be busy tomorrow

Agree feels colder. Windchill is taking things down a notch. Mybweather station is on the blink, 2.5, I don’t think so.

The deck boards are super icy but the trusty pan of water isn’t frozen so not significantly below freezing.

Hard frost forming on the damp grass ( no snow left- some settled higher up towards battle but washed away by the rain :(

I think this snow thats just fallen here is going to freeze so the pavements will be icy, its not good.

Have you got a nearby weather station on Wunderground to compare to? Decking boards are a death trap at the best of times ?

Unless people are careful, tomorrow will likely be what's known as a 'good donor day'. I hope people are sensible and cautious.

I hate them. We've got a small amount in the garden and they're a nightmare. If we weren't moving I'd sort them out with grippy paint. Hope your back improves!

It feels absolutely freezing this evening. The skies cleared just before sunset and the temperature is falling rapidly. Currently -1C here, with no lying snow left at all. The sleet washed it all away but there are plenty of massive puddles everywhere on roads and pavements and no sign of a gritter, so if people 'drive' as idiotically as they have been today.....ouch!

You need colder uppers and a stronger wind to bring those showers further inland.
