Starting to settle in Tunbridge Wells - MetOffice app still has this down as sleet for me but it's very definitely snow, so if it does get heavier later as they are suggesting we could end up with a couple of centimetres. Most unexpected.

After a day of rain yesterday, finally getting some snow here on the south downs just N of Portsmouth. Been about 2 hours worth and it's settling on roofs and cars but it's just too wet on the ground to settle there. Looks pretty coming down at a fair rate though.

I've been watching the temperature drop for a couple of hours now and the rain is on the turn right now. Looking more like snow than rain now here in South Woodham.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
