7 hours of moderate snow so far, light levels have fallen so I suspect the cloud is getting thicker

And yet still coming down.. took a top of bin shot to get the depth. Not bad at all :) A good 11cm going on for 12cm

I would say St Albans to Stevenage area were in the jackpot zone for snow totals.  We have about 10 cm's in Buntingford about 10 miles East of you.

By the way, this should arguably have been a Red warning. It's a long time since we've seen such widespread heavy snowfall and travelling in this is hazardous to life.

I wouldn't go that far. But what I'm hearing is many councils were not prepared one bit hearing things about cars sliding down hills scary stuff!

Problem is they gritted and then it rained. Then it snowed. Can’t do much about that happens every time it’s a rain to snow event

Strictly rain only here in West Kent but am chuffed for everyone seeing snow - and we still have almost three months of winter left....

Agreed, not quite red worthy but i've also heard about how most of the councils weren't prepared and didn't have enough warning and preparation for such an event. Norfolk is having problems and we had a dusting and some slush, i can't imagine how others are still managing! A friend near Milton Keynes said a main road near their house is currently completely snowed in under 6-8cm of snow with vehicles stuck up and down

Rural roads here in Mid Suffolk are getting a covering that is not readily melting, despite being gritted - it looks as if the earlier rain has washed off the salt.

Hasn’t stopped here in west Cambs. Went for a walk and had to come back early as the wind was making it white-out conditions. Must have at least four inches.

Anyone know if it’s snowing around Heathrow? Only I’m headed there for work from home soon, here in south London we had some settling snow earlier, but since 8.30 it’s been sleet/rain turning the dusting we had to slush.

I'm 5 miles north in Uxbridge and it's still snowing here.

I just got back home after  a 5 hr drive from Cheltenham. Heavy snow from 5.30 am and I saw many cars and lorries stranded and skidding all over the place. I’m in a 4x4 so had no problems but even the norther section of the M25 became closed at times with cars and lorries stuck on inclines. Treacherous driving conditions but all rain south of the Thames so any snow seems to have gone now.

Very light sleety snow here for a while now. Is there going to be some heavier precipitation?

Wow! What a first day back from my 2 weeks in the Yukon, Canada. I've been trying to keep up with developments from over there and have been reading about the corrections south in the track of the Low. You can actually see the eye of the Low this morning on the radar, moving from being over the Welsh Valleys at 09.25 to being over Swindon at 10.20 - so tracking roughly along the M4 with snow to the north of the track and sleet/rain to the south. The rain to start here on the Suffolk coast earlier has turned to snow and now a few cm's settled.

looks like Essex is the hardest hit with widespread totals of 5 inches.

Quick heads up .

Our region in the talking point-as regards further snow tomorrow!..

Gfs 6z just rolling out...

Certainly some more scope for further snowfall south east/east anglia.

With perhaps in favoured locations some more notable falls...

Needs eyeing!..

Again track and placement being key..

'Edit:

Looks favourable atm.

yes we definitely do seem to have done well here. I don't think it's letting up any time soon either. Been going since at least 5.30am when my other half woke me up after he looked out of the window to it all white outside.

How bizarre is that, now the pivot has started and its moving South its all rain now, just shows how crucial the wind direction is in these instances!
