What was the forecast for 9am? - that is for later so how can you know yet, there is still a long line of precipitation stretched over Ireland to come

Certainly' thats a fare back banding of precip...plenty more precip- to come forwards....in what ever form!

So your forecast was for rain and you got rain, lol. That's not really a downgrade then is it? Good luck for later though.

I didn't mean what I am currently getting was a downgrade! ? Forecast for later is currently downgraded

ETA: just reread what I originally wrote and I could've worded it better ?

Quick glance at tomorrow morning, certainly the possibility of a few cm through Beds/Bucks/Herts and possibly into NW London too.

Wow! I knew some were getting lucky but that really is a very good dumping for the south-east!

Had my alarm set for9.00am (BBC weather app said"Heavy Snow" would fall in my area at this time)...

Woke up at about 7....heavy rain outside....

Wakes up at 9.....Winter Wonderland outside with heavy, big snowflakes!!!! :yahoo:

Best snowfall Central London has had since January 2013!  :D:cold:

Got to say, the southward extent of this is astonishing. I was hesitant to even include London in accumulating snow, let alone central London!

Nick, how comes tomorrow many of along North Kent facing the Thames have a NE'ly forecast but with rain at 2/3*c?? Surely would fall as snow would it not?

Nick how long is this likely to continue? In Watford and have had a few hours snow now - wondering how much more to come? Cheers for all your tips and forecasts!

9cm here in Rickmansworth now. I'm shocked about this event. Serious case of forecasting gone wrong❄️

It's going to be light/moderate snow for much of the day now. Probably won't add a great deal to existing totals but it will at least prevent significant thawing.

I'm going to cook some breakfast and then consider my options as to how to get to the pub...

It wasn't wrong, yesterday the models were showing accumulations through Beds/Bucks/Herts! The Met Office updated their warnings yesterday evening.

Fair enough - harpenden? Not St Albans then ....

makes all the difference on days like this ?

Hey Blue, Harps postcode but I’d say St Albans I’m just before the Texaco garage on St Albans Road ;)

Dew points + air temps a few degrees above freezing = nothing but cold rain I'm afraid.

I know you want to defend them Nick but that's incorrect. They issued amber for the West Midlands and Wales. Let's not be revisionist about this, but let's also not put in the boot. It was always a tricky track to forecast. The fact remains, the snowline is nearly 100 miles further south and east than the MetO were expecting.

Anyone know if it’s snowing around Heathrow? Only I’m headed there for work from home soon, here in south London we had some settling snow earlier, but since 8.30 it’s been sleet/rain turning the dusting we had to slush.

Unfortunately there isn't lying snow in central, maybe on the very edge of zone 1 but nothing here by Covent Garden. Do you reckon it could improve?
