just saw this posted in the MOD thread, not a bad snow accumulation chart for Monday from the ECM :) Getting on for 12 inches in the south lol, or am i reading that wrong?

That would suggest some of us might do as well or even better than some in the north west.

I’m not laughing, really I’m not.

More than slightly. But still needs a bit more. Mind you then Monday's low will be in France. Not sure what I want now.

I'm laughing. Map shows snow everywhere in East Anglia. Then look more closely oh look how much snow there is for The Triangle, that's right, its the only place on the map which is completely clear.

Is it just me or is there more PPN than forecast towards the North-West?

I Don't mind as long as it doesn't die before reaching here. Even Cornwall has some ppm, it' probably not snow just yet though at 6c here.

Edit could it be that trough for tomorrow a bit early, or another developed in short notice this evening as they can do sometimes.

I'd be surprised/amazed if those accumulation charts verify!

If I had to bet I'd say we'll see something wintry but nothing settling.

Current dew points. Same as those showing on local weather stations on Wunderground

Personally I think some of us may do better from a Cheshire gap streamer in the next 48 hours.

Edit; north Home Counties.

It's not often we get this sort of prospect, even if it fails to materialise I am happy with the build up events.

That’s considerably further south than the last set of fax charts. Interesting..

Hi.  The key thing in these scenarios is to expect nothing.  That's usually what transpires.  My rule of thumb for the veracity of snow-casts over the years has been 4 days out - no clue, misleading. Ignore.  3 days - ditto.  2 days dangerous but tempting to believe.  1 day - 50/50 correct. 12 hours - better. 3 hours - worth taking serious notice of, and in combination with radar and satellite, can be very exciting if things have a chance of going your way. 0 hours - reliable, look out the window.

In other words, only take seriously within 24 hours, up to that point best to take with a giant pinch of salt, and disregard any expectations.

I get the sneaky feeling this time we going to get snow, maybe even tonight or tomorrow, but Sunday and Monday could still upgrade yet for us, and i think it might lol :)

and to think it's only 7th december, we could have 3 plus months of these fun and games yet...

Guess which idiot left their keyfob on her desk when she popped to the ca and had to stand in torrential rain for 5 minutes to be let back in?

As always, as I learnt so painfully, fun as ramping is, I shall stick to nowcasting and lamposts as my snow forecasters rather than going by charts and hope.

From the west I believe given the winds are from that direction.
