First bit of the white on the graphics showing for East Kent I do think many of us will some snow potentially a covering across parts of East Anglia, later in the day increased chance the SE will share in the fun.

Good to see you back Yamkin :)

It is sleeting in Gillingham.

‘Twas “pouring” down with snow the rather wet kind so I’m told @Biggin Hill not so long ago..

Why does it always seem  harder for the weather companies to forecast snow down south? They usually get it right up north but down here its always so hit and miss. I always find that they can forecast the snow up north on maps but here they leave it till the last minute or not at all (2010)

I find that to be true as well, typically the warnings are issued grossly late even when it is apparent to the common person. Not knocking the MetO but there are improvements to be made, from what we’ve seen already showers are moving quite inland. Reports of a brief wet snow shower to the west of London.

I believe they use a modification of EURO4 surprised there is no mention of the SE?

Good to see Yamkin back again. Always used to give advance notice of gritters going out! As for good old JohnPike - he set up his own website forum but I think Yamkin may know more?

GFS seems to be struggling with precip forcasts but I agree tomorrow looks interesting for EA/SE, bound to be reports of snow cover but I have my doubts about anything widespread - it'll be a hit and miss affair.

Interesting times though! Make the most of it this week... next weeks charts are looking more and more less snowy with HP close by initially before the transition back to mild westerlies...

Yes probably marginal stuff as slightly less cold air moves in later on tomorrow, but at least we have a dogs chance for a change.:D

I can confirm that it was snowing in Biggin Hill at about 9.30am.. Faily heavy for a very short period and big blobs.  Was lovely to see :-)

Had some light rain showers today, not sure about any sleet or not. Feels colder to me now than it was this morning.

I don't be think I've ever seen it snow here above 4C, only soft hail. But I await in anticipation :)

summary of today, on and off moderate showers of a variety of rain. sleet and a few big fluffy flakes of the white stuff. managed a pretty good 5c in the last few hours so most of the showers are just rain now.. hopefully as the evening draws in we'll have a shot of a proper little flurry of snow for the first time since January 2015 which brought us 2cm in around 5-10 minutes before instantly melting. I have to say it's looking much more promising this winter.

I have seen snow falling at 6C...But only in springtime, when lapse-rates are steeper and the air is often drier...never at this time of year though.:)

Misery guts. :D

The nature of showers you can’t forecast where they end up but I can say you have a very good chance of precipitation which is the most vital ingredient.

GEFS have upped snow chances for London tomorrow to a whooping 75%.

Time to do a snow dance?
