New thread with the winter madness just around the corner.

cold.jpg

Signs of a more amplified pattern setting up over the next couple of weeks, nothing too significant just yet but the odd frost here and there is likely in the colder periods.

Remeber to keep things civl in here please and at least try to have a bit of weather in your posts.

Thankyou :)

Metcheck has sleet for my location on the 3rd of December:yahoo:

Cheers CS for the new thread! Let’s hope it becomes a hive of activity with thousands upon thousands of snow reports - @lassie23 Sunday evening if GFS 12z is to be believed nice bit of good old sleet for London and the Home Counties. :cold:

I would be happy with some sleet, maybe snow on the Chilterns and Downs though, what are the chances of a dusting I wonder?

Back for the Winter Rollercoaster!!! So things seem to be hotting up (wrong phrase?! Lol!) in the MOD thread with some very interesting charts for end of November!!! Will it be another early teaser followed by lots of "meh" or will it be the early start of an epic winter to come??!! Well hold on tight and let the ride begin as we find out!! (Inner child leaps up and down!!)xx

Great output from the models at the moment. I wonder if what we are witnessing is a new 'pattern' in the weather that will regularly occur in late autumn/early winter? With the Arctic so warm nowadays (relatively speaking!) there's a lack of temperature gradient between the mid-latitudes increasingly resulting in a weak, meandering jet and thus further warm air advection into the Arctic region. This seems to be resulting in a tropospheric PV that struggles to get going at this time of year and we get outbreaks of cold air spilling into the mid-latitudes. Our part of the world hit the jackpot in Nov/Dec 2009/10 and more recently the USA has seen bitter weather. Will it be our turn to see the white stuff this year - esp with other drivers such as ENSO, QBO and solar activity all favourable this season?

Moving on and apologies for going way off topic..... rather chilly for the Region last night!!

Cold.... not really, but definitely cooler than usual in November. Night temps are getting lower.  November used to be damp /foggy, but still over two thirds of the month left.

Had one hell of a dark cloud come over, no rain, but made it look like early evening around 3pm. Brightened up when it went and gave me some stormy cloud porn.

Quite a nice day here, light winds, lots of cloud at times but also sunny spells and not feeling especially cold.

Oooh fresh thread.  Just in time for the colder weather to (hopefully) arrive on our shores.  I have been LOVING the weather over the past couple of weeks - minimal rain, cool fresh bright days.  Long may it continue

A bit O rain this morning, not really that cold. More in the way of a breeze.

In other news it's now dark.

Usual British gunk this morning. Raining and grey.

Soaked walking the dogs and fields completely bogged.

How long till spring?? Lol ?

Another 5 months to go of this. Thank god I have my snow fix booked to Montreal again this year.

Bit nippy this morning, but a clear bright start. Beeb saying heavy showers for tomorrow over here, not sure it will be cold enough for the rain to turn to sleet even though it says could be for north Norfolk coast :cold:

Very dreary day so far, it's that horrible soaking drizzle. Thankfully no wind and it's not cold. We haven't done badly these last few weeks with a lot less rain than normal. Maybe this year we will see a proper cold winter and you'll enjoy some snow here? As long as there are a lot of sunny days, I'll be content. Hopefully you'll see plenty of snow in Montreal.

It's a bit chilly, cos Autumn and it's meant to get a bit cold, because after packing away my summer stuffs I'd be a bit chestnuted off if it suddenly hits 25C.

Colder today, a little bit wet this morning, still cloudly. Rain doesn't know if it happening on my Birthday or not.
