Today's 06z GFS goes a tad cooler than yesterday, with the CET at 7.2C before corrections.

So at this stage, 7.0C to 7.8C before corrections, and 6.7C to 7.9C after corrections looks most likely.

Sunny Sheffield at 7.5C -0.3C below normal. The arrival of colder air earlier than expected preventing a bigger increase. Still a very dry month though with only 34.4% of rain so far.

GFS allows temperatures to recover to normal temperatures courtesy of mild nights and suppressed day values on Monday and Tuesday. The cold air taking too long to dig south to make much difference to the temps.  Sunny Sheffield will end up being close to average at around 6.8C. So this will mean a mild but dry autumn.

Sunny Sheffield at 7.3C -0.3C below normal. Latest 06oz has reduced knocked the temperatures back down for Monday so the chances of getting a cool month have increased somewhat.

8.8°C here, 0.9°C above the 1981–2010 average. A very slow fall over the next few days is likely, so probably finishing around 8.5°C, +0.7.

A cold end to the month looks likely to knock about 0.5C off the CET in the last 4 days. Most likely finish is now 7.2C before corrections (7.1C to 7.3C possible) and so 6.8C to 7.4C after corrections.

Odds of 30/35/35 for below, equal to and above average (81-10 average being 7.1C).

Sunny Sheffield at 7.1C -0.3C below normal. Rainfall 36.5mm 46% of normal

Just going to creep under normal so a close to average month on the cards. Likely finishing 6.5C. Looking dry here for the rest of the week so just today's rain to add to the the total then so probably 40mm of rain.

5.9c here to the 27th, 0.7c below the 1981-2010 average.

Further drops inevitable with a good frost forecast tomorrow night and snowfall forecast for Thursday.

Little change in the outlook, very likely to finish on 7.2C before corrections, with just a small chance of landing either side of that.
I'd suggest a finish of 6.8C to 7.3C when corrections are done, but best guess would be 7.1C.

Sunny Sheffield down to 7C -0.1C below normal.  Looking like we will finish on 6.6C unless we have serious cold overnight which isn't going to happy as now very hard to get a massive drop with a few days left. Allowing for the normal rough 0.8C difference in the CET zone that would leave it at  around 7.4C so lets say 7C to 7.4C for the final figure.

GFS also giving slightly higher values tomorrow than before.

A very average finish value likely, its been quite a month of contrasts, often cold in the north, generally milder in the south, despite what will be quite a cold end. Very traditional month.

Perhaps it's down to the wind and northerlies but i have to say that this month has felt on the whole much colder than last year and yet there will be no CET reward for it. As i say, it could just be the weather type or perhaps the south really was warm.

I would say it's because we are used to warmer weather and too much heating in the house so anything average feels cold

Anyway sunny Sheffield down to 6.8C -0.3C below normal.
