I agree Coldfingers, i feel western facing slopes and coasts are gonna get a bashing, spoke to a few people today and were thinking the same, based on the trajectory this storm is heading, west/east winds swinging from south east to north west, and the duration 24hrs...its not going to be pleasant in heavy showers.

Unless something drastic happens ( and weather isn't always predictable), well done to the MetO for the second consecutive accurate strom cast for CSEngland anyway. No hysterics with Ophelia, (she was always going to have to be now cast for w.wales after landfall)and being so measured about Brian.

Hmmmn... we already have F7 gusting F8 here. Higher than I expected for this early on. I am now wondering if this could possibly get a little higher than the F9 they have forecast for tomorrow? Interesting to watch anyhow.

Hmmn just dropped a little but still interesting that it was slightly higher and I AM surprised at what a large area Brian is covering!

It was forecast to be pretty windy slightly ahead of Brian. A small squeeze on the isobars, associated with a warm & cold front. The winds will ease slightly after midnight, before increasing again during the early hours of tomorrow.

Thanks for that Mapantz, I haven't had time today to check out the forecasts so it looks like I was caught with Mapantz ;) down!

Don’t.. my friend is flying back in this morn ... I didn’t mention that only the storm was as a coming .. she just said nice arrival at Heathrow then. I didn’t have the heart to say yep after maybe a few laps.. she would have had an 11 hour of so flight.

All very quiet here ... and warm!

I think Windchime is from Galway so Irish Met office have a different level of warnings.

Wind gust have been up to a good force 7, but dropped..

Looking at the forecast I think rain will be the main issue here in East Lancs rather than the winds with a gradual deteriation as the day goes on into a wet evening and overnight.

That said, it will be gusty and I'm not repairing the fence damaged earlier in the week until Brian has headed across the North Sea tomorrow.

Just looks like post frontal showers so if you happen to miss them then it will probably be alright.  Small chance of lightning as well

Oh BBC news has the storm Brian in the  main news..

In Looe, Cornwall.. reporter on site apparently “conditions like this are unusual “ she says? ...

Then goes onto say that the winds aren’t as bad as they weren’t to be..I think .. words to that effect.

it just looked like a lovely autumn  day ?...

I had to park round the corner last night so walked round to move it this morning when the neighbour went out. It’s certainly fresh out there, but nothing in terms of wind beyond a stiff breeze.
