True but they said 55-65mph widely with gusts up to 80mph but Aberdaron just recorded 90mph, picking up here now too, probably gusting around 55mph

Third person has died =( another falling tree on car. While us enthusiasts study learn and indeed take some excitement from this weather, we must spare a thought for the people caught up init.

Stay safe all and ride it out now, hopefully most are on there way or home now for the evening lots of people leaving early in the effected areas.

Highlight here so far was the red sun heard reports it went green in Rotherham. Winds have picked up here but nothing noteworthy/

With all the weird skies going on, completely missed how much the temperature has dropped this afternoon. Was about 21c at lunchtime, now about 15c. Back to the jeans I think...

Gone the other way here was 15c up to mid-afternoon then went up to 18.1c and back down to 17.6c now

Glengormley, Northern Ireland at 5.00pm.  Not sure if it’s to get worse or not and not sure what the wind speeds are in this area at the minute but quite surreal to experience. Few of those trees are down now.

It's dammed if you do ,dammed if you don't for the met office in these situations, don't think they could have done anymore other than perhaps upgrading the warnings a little earlier.

Yep, agree. Aberdaron is a very exposed station. Certainly hasn't warranted a red warning anywhere in the UK today. If we were seeing what Ireland has then definitely.

Sky is now yellow again, but I can see the edge of the main bank of cloud.

True, they've just underestimated a little that all

I noted this yesterday and have noted umpteen times before the Met Office Re grossly inept at alerting public in Wales of possible severe weather...schools like Ireland should have closed today across large swathes of Western Wales but didn't until last minute due to lack of info about this system!

Frankly apalling but not unexpected!

I'm in Belfast and I have seen worse wind wise. Just a typical autumn/winter severe gale here IMO.
