As Jo says, not for discussion here but just quickly. Go to www.windy.com and move the bottom timeline forward to Friday/Saturday. Not sure how to link directly.

Ophelia has also fanned the wildfires in Iberia very bad year for wildfires in the northern hemisphere. Also a contributory factor in the strange yellow hues to the sky folk are seeing across the country.

Yep I have tried also with the camera and it wont pick the colour up .. feel like we are living in Sepia Mode! Have seen Ophelia has ripped up a Corks football stand. That's is some steel to move..

And that is why I love the weather. The sheer power it can possess. You don't mess with mother nature!

The world is in sepia mode at the moment. Is this what the 1970s were like?

Dear BBC,

What has a storm 30 years ago in the SE of England got to do with current news of Ophelia?

More appropriate to a history program than a rolling news broadcast.

Simply drivel to bury other news..

Paul Hudson, the weatherman on BBC Look North, has just said that forest fires in Portugal are contributing to this yellowing, and presumably the burnt odour; both of which are becoming increasingly apparent here in York. Wind still negligible and sun yet to break through the grimly-grey cloud cover, though I live in hope I'll see the orange orb others have marvelled at, later this afternoon

The skies are very dark here even this far north - street lights coming on!

The sun made an appearance in Leeds in the past hour, so it should be visible in York soon.

Ophelia has caused one of the most bizarre days of weather and skies I have seen for quite sometime.

Very similar here on the South coast but further East.We have a coating of Sahara dust on cars too.

Warm almost tropical breeze off the channel

At about midday the skies cleared and we’ve now got (what feels like) a lovely summers day, but with one heck of a blustery wind! :shok::good:
