Just done the walk to school with the youngest, it's very eerie out there this morning even over here on the east.

Normally the place would be alive with birdsong and seagulls, but near enough nothing. The closest I can compare it to is the final 30 minutes before an eclipse. And the warm breeze, really strange.

Same here. Not a single bird, whether it be a seagull, pigeon, magpie or the normal reason for silence hawk.

If you're wondering what the yellow hue is to the sky, it's probably Saharan dust picked up by the long-draw southerly sucked up all the way from N Africa by Ophelia.

Update from the south east, it's literally like being in a rain forest, it's so warm and humid it's such a strange feeling so late on in the year, and mention of thunderstorms too for the south east this week..

Agree Surrey.  Just been out to shop and the wind has picked up (obviously sjould really say breeze lol) but it feels wrong. Not like a typical warm day. Very strange

Just breezy here in Stroud, but the sun is blood orange in colour through the haze, sometimes dim, sometimes really bright. Quite a sight with the yellow/grey across the sky. If I looked at the sky without knowing the temperature and what was happening I wouldn’t be sure if it was going to storm or snow!

Those large old oak trees in the local park are as dry as paper, will be amazed if one of those old beauties does not fall today. I hope they stay still.

I rode the horse this morning in a vest top.. it was ridiculously warm. 17 degrees. While Ireland is getting a battering we are left in tropical air..

I bet it (the horse) looked cute in the vest top

apologies but I could not resist.

Kind Regards

Lochmaben is calm with drizzly rain. Can hear the birds tweeting happily away. The sky is a warm ochre grey. Don't know what the temp is but wouldn't say it's particularly warm.

Currently in conwy north Wales, very warm and humid here with a slight breeze. The sun is very odd, blood red like a sunset although it's high in the sky, never seen anything like it! A bad omen?!

Winds really starting to pick up now, have our guys out wind proofing the yard as much as possible.  Work closing at 2.30 but might have to revise the time. Seems to be coming a bit earlier.

I’m a qualified accountant and a human being-mistakes do happen occasionally no matter how hard you try not to. I don’t know a single person in my life in any field of work, professional or otherwise who hasn’t made a mistake at some point. I’m not always the biggest fan of the met office warnings etc but it’s not possible to be perfect- sod working for someone like you!

I have made two mistakes at work this morning already. I was really glad I didn't get sacked for them. Then I remembered your post. So I'd like to retract my unkind statement towards the Met Office tweeter and I hope you'll still consider being my financial accountant when my company goes global. But don't you dare ever add an extra zero to a supplier payment...

Getting a bit windy near Cork:
