What contrasts we're observing this morning.Eerily calm first thing...but most noticeable thing was how the temperature rose overnight. It's currently 17C with a light breeze and broken cloud

Yup and here it's yellow and pouring with rain. Why is it yellow?

Saharan dust?

The most recent gust of 107 km/h on the Irish south coast seems to line up  with model expectations for this timeframe.

But within the next 2 hours there should be a dramatic increase in winds there. Will see if the model verifies.

Its very eerie approx 2 miles from Belfast International Airport this morning. Heavy rain and windy to start now dry and winds eased. I took a photo of the clouds to upload but it doesn't do it justice to what it actually looks like and how it feels. Once in a lifetime event for us today in Ireland....excitement is mounting.....but also is the fear

Anyone noticed how ridiculously dark out it is

Maybe Saharan sand have anything to do with it?

Moving a boat through the Midlands this week, was heavy raindrop showers to start with and no wind, too warm to put coat on though.

Suddenly gusts of wind and leaves coming down everywhere at 8am.

Now back to non wind and very warm with rain visible to south. (Near burton)

..and there's millions of flies about.

And the worst isn't even here yet! This is bad...

Woke up at about 9:15am and thought it was about 7am because of how dark it is! That Saharan dust is playing its part, along with the cloud and rain.

As I said a few minutes ago, it's so eerie. It feels almost like the last moments before an eclipse, I cannot find any other way to describe it.
