Knew there was a reason for this storm lol. All his interests seem to attract bad weather.

Flippin Eck indeed. And still showing less than the 115mph winds in '87. I sincerely hope for their sakes it doesn't get as bad as that 'normal UK weather'. ;)

;)

115mph was the maximum gust recorded ~anywhere~ in the storm of '87 - a literal one off huff. Mean wind speeds were 87 mph at a lightship off the south coast, generally reaching Force 11 on various parts of the South Coast (maximum 63kt .. or 72.5 MpH), falling away considerably with distance from shore.

It was indeed the upper end of "normal British weather" - just in an unusual British place for it. The unique thing about it was the location and rapid development - not the wind speed. Nothing's going to change that.

Hope all you lot over in Ireland keep safe tomorrow. This looks really, really nasty for exposed coastal locations particularly.

I'm up in Belfast, was meant to be flying back to Manchester tomorrow evening. Not sure that's going to happen now. I just hope Flybe get their act together and give plenty of notice of cancellation to save a wasted journey to the airport!

Hi all,

Late to the show today. Looking forward to seeing how the next 24 hours unfold.

I'm located about 500ft above sea level just at back of Cave Hill near Belfast. Wondering how it's going to play out here. Took the gazebo down today and bringing bbq inside in morning.

Very exciting stuff, but very dangerous. I'm surprised at how many people are brushing this weather event off - friends and family of mine think it'll just be a bit of strong wind ... I've tried explaining to them but not listening.

Looks like my area should get some very strong winds late in the afternoon - is that right?

Stay safe everyone and I'll update what's happening in my area tomorrow :)

Meanwhile, in Pembrokeshire, there's a yellow weather warning.

I'm just wondering why the seferics in the center, thats normally a sign of intensification in the eye wall. Is it also something that happens during transition.
