There's sferics SW of Ireland now,so some unstable air ahead of Ophelia.

Arpege is going off on one it's a brutal run  Ireland under close to 100mph winds for hours on end. Wales and a large swath of England also taking s battering  even as Far East as the West Midlands under 60mph .

Yep, and of course, as the NHC advisory stated, 

"Individuals are urged to not focus on the exact track of Ophelia
since strong winds and heavy rainfall will extend well outside of
the NHC forecast cone."

I thought Storm Erich on St Stephens Day/Boxing Day 2013 was really bad, worst for me anyway so far, that was a crazy one anyone remember it being bad near them? Our electric went and some slates fell. Will Ophelia be worse?

The southern counties of Ireland are so very mild, the trees are very much in full leaf, with 10 weeks of wet weather and growth just about recently finished this has to bring down any week trees, a real pity. Some of the forests in south west Ireland are untouched since humans first came to the island. Hope they don't replace them with exotics like in English estates.

Thanks that's interesting to know. That blob of convection is being very stubborn.

 It's The the one that I use for windstorms  usually very close to the mark. Ireland is under severe winds also Wales and northern England  and the south west. Only really eastern part and London escape storm still going Tuesday night

It's due to arrive as Cat 1 - Cat 2 strength.

According to the recent bbc news my area will be getting 70 mph winds and its going to be bad all the way up the west coast. Wales looks to be hit pretty badly too. I really feel for the Irish folk though

"normal british weather" I don't think so!!! I am undoubtedly far, far older than you and NEVER before was what I experienced that night in any way, shape or form, "normal british weather!" Maybe in the Highlands of Scotland but NEVER in Southern Britain!

115 mph is NOT normal Southern weather for sure!

I was there too. It's played a big part in my dislike for people making 'Bring it on' 'can't wait!' statements. It's really not something to play down
