Wind pretty loud now, gusting up to 40

Since the leaves are on the trees, the wind over here is deafening, and very strong!

Evening dangerous,my current wind speed is 14 mph :shok:

I haven't checked the exact wind speed here, but it is gusting in fits and starts... But we are now getting some very mournful sounding gusts over the top of the chimney.

Moderate breeze here currently, very loud down the chimney.

Averaging 17mph with gusts of 26mph from the south east.

I expect the strongest gusts here will be from the NW on its western flank as the low moves into the North Sea.

Just driven home from York, very hazardous driving conditions and alot of debris/leaves down on the country roads.

Steady 14mph winds here gusting to 27mph, worst of Aileen is forecast to pass around 1am with only a small window of opportunity to experience the 60mph-70mph gales that are forecast. I'm in the process of setting up and waterproofing some camera gear before heading out.

I'd say we are getting approximately 55-60mph gusts now? The trees are very loud, the bin in my garden has been blown around, the rain is almost sideways, and the windows are getting pushed in slightly. (double-glazed)

Unlikely. 31 - 45mph gusts at Shoreham.

Good point, it just seems so strong... Strongest I've seen it here since late 2016-ish?

Aileen's eye is aproaching the NW of England soon,so expect starry sky's and the odd shooting star, meanwhile here it is breezy with some light drizzle:nonono:

It certainly feels a lot stronger just along the coast here in Hastings

Stopped raining here and the wind seems to have dropped slightly although still a few strong gusts.

There was a little flooding about on the walk back about 45 minutes ago, but the rain is still quite heavy and the radar shows plenty more on the way. Things could be quite bad around here come morning.

It always does. I think the same when I hear the gusts outside, but having my anemometer at just over 10 metres high, I get fairly good readings, and they never register as high as I was expecting. I did have a few 42mph gusts, and a 20mph max speed though. It's calmed down a bit now, just gusting to circa 25mph.

My barometer is currently saying 986mb... The mean wind speed around here at the moment is 20 mph... Gustsing to 28 mph.

But the skies are totally clear.

Aileen is nothing spectacular at the moment.

30mph top gust here earlier this evening although it would probably have been a bit higher my station was higher and more exposed. Highest mean was 15mph.

Current mean only 8mph, gusting 19mph.

The gfs has been modeling the strongest winds for the last few runs to be over eastern England/Norfolk and out into the north sea, here is the 18z

9-515UK.GIF?12-189-289UK.GIF?12-1812-289UK.GIF?12-18

so anywhere lee of the pennines can expect some turbulent weather.

Wales getting a pounding

And the south coast suprisingly,i would expect those strong winds SW of Wales would traverse to the eastern side of the uk in time with the strongest gust's through south yorkshire,Lincolnshire and N Norfolk.

The winds on this part of the south coast are stonger than I was expecting for sure.

pressure here is 982.1 mbar and falling.  What little win there is still seems to be south of West so the centre hasn't passed yet.
