If you're looking for another weather guage, this might do the trick, right on the east coast of Puerto Rico. Here on Google maps (see how long it lasts!)

Both my baby girls ( now 21 and 27 ) are holidaying in Orlando , running the gauntlet of Theme Parks,.

If it was safe to assume Irma will flirt with the east coat of Florida as it tracks north and Orlando been approximatley 60 miles west of the eye .. can i ask what the wind speeds would likely be if the image i posted verified.. im in regular contact with them on Fb .. i just dont know what to tell then to do or where to go if needed. Can anyone give me an idea of what they should expect please.

In my opinion & considering they are your children I would advise them at this *current* stage to move west to the west coast as it looks increasingly likely that it will miss the worse of the impacts. Keep track of forecasts!!!

I've seen that video before - it was filmed in early July in China

Why do people post old stuff, this is worrying enough as it is.

If its within there economic capabilities that is, if not just ask them to do some research to find safe shelters within Orlando.

What does that mean, that it'is now sucking down very cold air?

and is it good news or bad news regarding intensification?

Now punching into the lower-parts of the troposphere, the soundings are showing one powerful updraught around the core keeping this uplifting sustained.

Happy Hurricane Day, or something.

At 5 pm, we'll have 3 hurricane ... Irma, Jose, and Katia.

A compiled page.

Reading on airliners.net, the island and airport are in a bad way. Only way off will be by boat to the nearest operational airport.

Interesting how landfall rags the eye wall.

Puts the sheer size of this thing into scale as well.
