Water level rising quickly now.

Currently some 2.7 feet above normal (without wave effect), and rising with the incoming high tide too.

I think the loss of most of the facebook live sources could be due to mast or power failure. Seems most are very intermittent or have gone completely.

Dry air really messing with Irma now, its the surge that is going to be the big talking point IMHO

CNN & NHC pretty much spot on with Cat 3 I reckon!

Ive been watching the build up, love the way they keep on saying "this is the least of the worst" and the weather reporter ( red dress lady) stating the eye as had a little wobble and looks like going slightly more east now.

It amazes me how they plant some of the live reporters in really wild conditions.Earlier one guy was nearly blown off his feet on one of the Keys and another was braving Hurricane force gusts and flooded Ocean Drive, both bravely clutching on to their microphones. One had what looked like swimming goggles on as the wind and horizontal rain lashed into him.

They certainly go all out to bring the flavour of the conditions.

I think there's a certain amount of competition for who gets their contract renewed or who gets the biggest scoop as a reporter. I can't imagine another reason for agreeing to go to where the deputy director of the NHC literally said "It's not clear that it's a survivable situation for anybody that is still there".

Couldnt imagine 185 mph even if he was chained down.

You could suffocate with that pressure.

To be fair, she's zig-zag stepping. I'd need to see more.

could be the beginning of a turn. Could just be another of her wobbles.

Anyone watching CNN? They take a break every 5/8mins and just repeat the same stuff. Mostly concentrating on Miami...few shots of the guy in Key Largo. Apparently they are still 3 hours away from high tide in Miami.

I was watching some of the snaps on snapmaps this morning - so surprised to see how many people are still in Key West, though it doesn't seem to have hit them hard as they were expecting.

Apparently they said it's starting in Miami.

I just watched a video from Old Town, Key West (near furthest west point) - posted an hour ago - people out walking their dog ...
