He is mounting phone on a tripod and said that he will still be broadcasting in 2 hours... this is from Grace bay in the T&C's, apparently the eye is heading for this part.

So many people are taking massively inadequate preparations. It's painful to watch them claiming that they're safe.

Yes, I can imagine looking at the screen and seeing a 40 foot container flying through the air right over the broadcasters shoulder.

Yh that last Stream withe the 6-7 year old girl is ridiculous with all that glass!

I will tell you one thing the Turks and Caicos Islands look like a Millionaires Playground and Irma is going to bash that up real bad!

Going to be some seriously unamused people on those Islands

Triple agree, was looking at the google images of all the expensive hotels sitting right on the beach front with open areas galore, oh dear.

Hearing you there Paul, some folk are going to lose an awful lot financially from this.

Blowing up now

Not normally a hurricane follower but this one does the air of something historic about it.

A bitter sweet one following this - on the one hand enjoying seeing the power of nature, but on the other hand very aware of the devastation it is going to cause. Wouldn't want this tracking up the Solent!!!

The size of that thing is just ridiculous in comparison to those islands.

I don't think people appreciate that if they eye passes over, they might as well be passing through a 40 mile wide F3 tornado.

Weighing down a table just outside your patio doors with some kind of small metal object, or relying on loads of glass patio doors and windows for your shelter ... it's just not going to sodding work!

Have these people not yet seen Barbuda, Anguilla, St Barts or St Maartens yet? (I mean, they're livestreaming on facebook, after all).

I'm kinda worried people are still in them. The resort one on youtube posted on the previous page has had some people walking about on the beach, for peats sake.

After watching St Barts and the St Maarten cams, I would be elsewhere.

I heard something about cutting the power to the islands prior to Irma.

I know this is slightly off topic, but how close are these hotels to the ocean, its just nuts.

EDIT: Yes I heard about the power as well.

Makes sense to do that. Power infrastructure will be damaged. It'll be even more damaged if falling lines and flying objects end up blowing things out electrically too.

It wont look like the glossy holiday brochure cover pic after Irma

Looking seriously bad. Thoughts and prayers to all affected.

Beautiful places being torn apart. Mother Nature at her worst.

Recon just taking off for Willemstad. Presumably another mission going in for another look.

Edit: Strike that, just for the moment. Could actually be a GPS wobble and it may just be standing on a runway.

Nhc have updated as per their 10pm.

The track has been shifted westwards and the official path of the hurricane is now just west of Miami with the eye passing over landfall just shy of cat 5.

Then straight up Florida.

A touch more effect over the Bahamas.
