The problem with the gfs and tbh whatever the path is going to be. Is that the Irma travels straight up the coast. The surge will be monsterous with 30 hrs up every each of the east side of Florida.

This is of course after a Miami hit and the winds effecting the major towns and cities

I was thinking the same myself....not hitting land and travelling up the coast simply spreads out some of the damage. Had it crashed into the everglades it would have at least taken some of the sting out of it first.

A guy in Facebook (Mark Plaxton) doing a live video is currently in the eye in Tortola. Perfectly calm, even a little blue sky to be seen when he looks straight up - but all around, a white wall of cloud. Pretty awesome stuff. (Although he really should get back inside now!)

There's a weather station here you can keep an eye on in the Virgin Islands. If you want it's precise whereabouts, it's the little white mark again the small jetty here.

Currently showing gusts of 71 knots.

Also as previously mentioned the Soggy Dollar Bay web cam, here which is in the US Virgin Islands and is a little further west.

Soggy Dollar webcam (BVI)  not live at the mo ...it's running in a loop and is stuck around 9am local time (over 4 hours ago)

And standard wind speed recorded at 20 knots... Seems a bit low given how close the eye of the storm is?

Dvorak numbers are increasing again and the convection aground the eye is getting colder. The eye wall itself is getting better defined in Doppler.

Irma is strengthening imho and could go sub 910mb this evening.

Watch it on YouTube. There are some sympathetic and not so sympathetic responses to the Shed :nonono:

Yep and possibly dead car as well by sound of it.

edit: They just said on the stream the main town/island is supposedly destroyed - what ever that means :/

Some of the comments on the stream are funny.  Baby in the background as well which is worrying.

What strange days we live in when you can be sat thousands of miles away rooting for the survival of a shed, in the middle of a hurricane filmed live on a woman's mobile phone whilst having her reply to your question about who made the decking and railing. (her son and Nathan made it)

I really have no clue what's going on anymore.

I regret to say it, but I can't help wanting to see the shed fly away... I know how badly this reflects on me...
