I think a lot of the coast is still evacuated. Better stay away longer! Really feel for them

As I said late last week if Irma does 'thread the needle' into the gulf then we could see the tropical storm that they think will form up this week in the SW Gulf enter into that Hurricane dance and so make landfall forecasts difficult (Fujiwhara effect?).

If Katia does indeed form up she will be savaged to death by Irma but then , to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction! so Irma's motion would be impacted? The bigger Katia the more that impact .

In cloud Cuckoo land where I live and do my best thinking Katia could draw Irma  ( old germanic goddess of war) deep into the gulf over those steaming waters before the spin of the planet, aided and abetted by steering currents, sends her to land with Katia ingested and adding to her might!!!

Wonder if Irma will beat Wilma in the pressure stakes.

NOAA NHC forecast still shows Irma deepening for another 24 hours at the least before landfall interaction starts to weaken the eye somewhat, not that there's much difference between 160mph and 185mph sustained windspeeds but I know what i'd rather choose if I was living on those islands.

Multiple models showing these 'apocalyptic' scenarios really need to be taken seriously, even if the odds of them have to be low. If it happened they would annihilate everything in their path; even bunkers would be damaged by that level of winds.

I'm no expert, so what's the chances she's peaked early and will lose a little of that power? What causes that to happen? Is it likely she'll keep blowing like that until she makes landfall?

A gradual increase in wind speed and drop in pressure, she's getting closer
