Storms of our Grandchildren might be putting in an early appearance!

Assuming an implicit reference to climate change there... People don't grok the exponential function.

What might have been thought of as the 'storms of our grandchildren' were never going to be so. They were always going to be ours.

Pardon my French, but having lived in Louisiana briefly, you'd be mongooseing bonkers to go on holiday to the Gulf of Mexico in late August/early September, particularly to an island with minimal escape.

The british weather makes many folk do strange things in search of the sun.

Cat. 5 and 929mb already! Looks like the GFS was right all along. :blink2: I think Hugo is the only other hurricane on record to reach Category 5 east of the Caribbean.

It looks like Irma is finally turning WNW but I think it's too late for the northernmost islands. I think Antigua will miss the strongest part of the storm, but if you're reading Cleeve Hill I'm neither an expert nor a clairvoyant so prepare for the worst regardless. I definitely wouldn't like to be in Barbuda right now

An interesting piece from the editor of the herald today on St Maarten. Giving some background on previous hurricanes and how he thinks they'll fair this time round

Not as pretty as the close up of the eye of Isabel but she does look very impressive on a global view. Reminds me of some of the 'buzzsaw' typhoons seen in the Pacific.

You have to laugh -

IRMA11L.2017090506.fsct.png

NOAA's hurricane models latest run - Pressure down to 850mb in 4 days.

Thats worst case end of the century Climate Change model storm pressures, the fact the model even thinks its possible is down right scary.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?
