harvey is concentric again and is trying for an erc the smaller eye is quite ragged now and te much larger one in good shape.

Harvey might just reform the inner wall. Whatever happens it will be very noticeable from land Doppler.

Looks like a repeat from early morning. Inner wall reforms absorbs the outer squeezes out the dry air and now contracting and  depending again imho

Harvey is certainly an efficient machine isn't he, it's fascinating watching the loops - thanks to all who have posted these.

I hope the inhabitants of SE Texas are taking this seriously, because this is about as bad as it gets.  A storm over steaming hot waters with minimal shear, very light steering winds and the likelihood of stalling on the coast...I'm hoping against hope there won't be significant loss of life from this storm, but 20+ inches of rain falling over a wide area is an exceptionally extreme event and not likely to be repeated any time soon (I hope).

And if you factor in the storm surge blocking the exit of all that rainfall, esp. if he pops back out into the gulf and then heads east as then he will be blocking the worst of his flooding as he travels.

If he keeps his toes in the gulf then he could remain a low number storm for the duration ( 5 days?) making rescue difficult.

I fear another Katrina is in the offing........

I'm watching it live now, the camera view switches from time to time but it's still up and running.

Edit to update: It looks quite ferocious there right now.

A biblical flood is in the offing. While there will be a human cost I feel for the animals plenty of alligators and snakes and whatnot will be displaced and killed that may pose an additional danger.

Already.

Not sure why SS posted that. Not related to Hurricane Harvey.

And yes finally an upgrade to major hurricane status.

Harvey continues to strengthen still.

Recon pass just now found 941-942mb flight winds of 120kt and surface winds just shy of 100kts.

Harvey is closing in on cat 4 but more importantly has a large area of damaging winds which will help to bring down trees and block water ways even well inland.

Hmm only just caught up and been made aware of Hurricane Harvey.. my first thought is how apt a name .. I ride a horse called Harvey. He is a dominant territorial big brute. Loves the rain too.

But he likes and is kind to people, so let's hope Hurricane Harvey, decides landfall isn't for him, and keeps people out of harms way.

Watching the seawall cam. Some people walked past a little while a go without much difficulty which makes me think it's a lot less than sixty mph at the moment.
