I'm baffled as to why the beeb have ended their NHS advice on heat waves from their forecasts

(Snapshot from July 2006)

Well perhaps in general it annoyed people. "We know it's hot why tell us". Anyways back to the weather.

A hot unpleasant day. Too hot to do any gardening and a lack of audible hedge cutting lawn or mowing suggests others feel the same. Sunny spells became more prolonged as the day went and now unbroken sunshine.  However it's not humid though. Bad weather day for people with breathing difficulties as well.

Max temp so far 27.3C now 27.1C time to go higher yet. Low 12.6C, Barometer 1022mb falling, Wind F2 W, Rainfall Nil

Unconfirmed high today is 30.2c at Teddington Bushy Park, Middlesex

I don't know why people say Middlesex, it doesn't exist anymore. Teddington is in London.

Still hovering around 24c here! Not that often we get hot days with an absence of any sea breeze whatsoever

Temperature seems to be dropping more here than other places. 18.6C after an afternoon high of 27.2C. More of this throughout the summer please.

The Weather Channel seems to be in agreement with the forecasters over at Accuweather.

The 19th June 2000 remains the second warmest day ever here with a max of 31.0C. Only 3rd August 1990 on 34.0C has been warmer since 1980. The 18th was 'only' 24.9C due to that onshore breeze.

Leeds reached 31.7C on 18 June 2000. IIRC we were the second hottest place in the country that day.

The following July was pretty terrible, while August was okay.

Cant remember what the summer of 2000 was like?? any idea :D..

Mixed bag. But nothing special apart from a sudden heat wonder around the Solstice period.  Generally a summer that offers nothing much to remember.

Summer 2000 from my memory had that hot weekend 18-19 June (May had some good spells too), then a rubbish first half of July (similar to the second half of July 2005), then it was OK but not spectacular until the rain started at the end of August (and never let up until late December...) It was one of the less good 90s/early 00s efforts, but nowhere near as bad as several post-2006.

Thanks for all your inputs :D

speaking of recent summers.. 2013 and I would say last year 2016 wasn't that bad if you take into consideration August/ September .And if we do get a good one this year. I would say we have arrested the poor run of summers in the last  5  years . that would  be 3 out of  5 summers. Obviously  nothing like  the years  2003/2006 .But it would be  excepted in a way.. least said about 2007 and 2012 the better.

But I do think 2017 will end being the best summer since 2006.I do hope that's the case anyway.
