Latest map from this morning of location of wild fires breaking out in the interior. The worst for 60 years and no sign of rainfall. The Pacific High pressure block has produced 3 summers in a row of heat and drought to the Provence. Even the normally maritime climate of the west coast and rain forests of the coastal range have been affected. Downtown Vancouver City in a permanent smoke haze for last few days.  My cousin who lives in Lake Osooyoos is only 1km from a wild fire and may have to evacuate as its getting very close. So far 7000 people in BC have had to evacuate their homes.

Damn, that sounds pretty serious. California and areas south of BC have had their drought, now it's Canada's turn :D

Yes its been very dry and hot in interior BC. This latest picture taken from my cousins house over looking Lake Osoyoos just shows how dry the landscape is at the moment and also note the smoke haze. My son who lives in Vancouver reports an improvement in air quality over recent days as a more maritime flow from the NW is drifting along the Pacific coast but the dry sunny weather continues here as well although with a lowering of temps compared to last week or so. The Pacific High continues to dominate much of the USA Northwest and BC . Heat lows in the interior have caused isolated storms and lighning that cause some of the fires.
