IMBY, could be sanwiched in a storm free zone, with activity to the NW and SE, my plan i think is to head up to some vantage point in the Peak District later this evening, hopefully something like July 1st 2015 unfolds

Little pockets of ac cas beginning to appear here now. Hopefully that’s a good sign for later, but not too soon as we’re having a BBQ!

The weather forecast for Aberdeen Airport NE Scotland now changed to reflect the possibility of a thunderstorm between 0000 - 0600 tomorrow. Previously just reporting the possibility of showers in this timeframe. Might be interesting viewing later!

Looks a bust for here and looking at the radar it looks like the south and east of here have the best chances.

New to the forum, hello everyone

The past few days have felt more like mid July than mid April, so looking forward to the cool down next week. It’s currently cloudy here after a sunny morning/early afternoon, looking forward to the possibility of some storms later although not getting my hopes up!

Times like the this you watch the radar. Storms are very difficult to predict and you should have learnt by now they have a habit of forming not in the right place. Also if you read the forecast it said it may have to be adjusted south. BTW no need to shout.

He has a point that the showers up here won’t get going for at least another hour, and for you, it will probably be more 8-10pm.

I will refrain from shouting, though as has been mentioned initiation has been consistently modeled in the late afternoon/early evening in North Wales/North West England due to slow development of convergence zones and as forcing mechanisms increase. An upper level warm nose has capped convection, though this will likely be eroded as heights lower from the west and convergence causes strong uplift.

Well, had our BBQ here in Reigate and, as predicted, the moment the food went on, the clouds started to gather. Plenty of build since 2:00pm but a lot of it looks capped out and giving rain to the north and west of here. Not much sign of anything to the south, but Isle of Wight seems to be doing OK?

Hi all,

Long time reader and occasional poster about 4/5 years ago. Decided to sign back up and contribute to the discussions and reports for this storm season.

I moved back to North Hertfordshire after 3 years in Brighton while at uni last August, was quite lucky with some overnight storms while I was there, in particular the night of 19/20 July last year. Hoping to get more home grown storms in this location as I seemed go miss out on the coast.

Feels good to be back glued to the convective storm discussion thread. Tonight is looking interesting for the south east, but I feel I may be too far north for anything passing through.

Thank you to all that contribute to forecasts etc

Liam

Welcome friend. Exciting time to join back up. Storms making their way across the channel!
