Yep much past 10.30 here and showers head inland only to return around 7 pm ish.

Yep. As predictable as clockwork the last few days.

Interesting that the storm tomorrow night falls on the same day 6 years ago when extratropical-Katia crossed over the UK.

Hi! Today has been pretty nice convection-wise. We had a gusty, heavy shower at about 10:00 A.M., no thunder/lightning though. most of the day has been similar, but when the cloud broke, Wow! I saw some of the most clear, largest, and beefy looking CB's and anvils I've seen in a long time.

Off work today and yet more thunder here.  Looking at the live lightning, I could be in for a treat soon. Fantastic cloudscapes today, proper weather!

On the bus home from school about to drive into a thunderstorm. Seen 2 distant flashes so far. Hope I get home before the rain!

Well that was a nice little storm, caught a few photos, not worth putting here really but another one to add to the 2017 list - September seems to deliver the goods!

It's absolutely torrential out there. Hopefully it clears before I get off! Lightning seems to have slowed down though...

Edit: Passed over much quicker than I thought. Didn't see any more lightning but the rain was immense. Some nice CB towers off to the north now though

Very interesting afternoon with cell after cell coming over, dropping a huge amount of convective rain for a few minutes with rumbles mixed in. :yahoo:20170911_155249.thumb.jpg.cf093922c0be71d3fb1cc97793c12965.jpg

Didn't see any lightning but still enjoyed the action and although the thunder seems to have stopped we still have cell afer cell dropping its contents on the way overhead. Driving home I saw some incredible cb's over north west kent with clearly defined anvils and still exploding with updrafts lower down the base. Never seen anything quite like it. The drive home was like driving through a monsoon at times with clear spells inbetween cells. Extraordinary day.

Looks far more threatening to the east of here than it actually is. In fact the radar shows nothing at all in that direction.

Another cell appeared to my NW that's now rumbling away every so often

Is it just me, or does it look like a line is developing near London?

Appears to be moving more East than towards me, but still putting out regular deep rumbles as well as what looks to be possibly a shelf cloud? Too dark for a photo though.

Had plenty of heavy showers today and one particularly in the last hour but we have had nothing thundery.

They seem to be producing lightning as they move away to the east as some people from the southeast regional thread have posted.
