Lightning is very frequent - every 5 seconds or so. This is plume style frequency and conditions don't feel vaguely impressive at all. Funny ole thing the weather!!

A plume from the NW:laugh:

enjoy the show Harry:)

Huge flash to the NW this time! Here comes round 2, albeit still distant.

In Ely tonight and I'm seeing some very impressive strikes beyond Cambridge! Didn't see this one coming!!

Wow! this bugger is active, frequent lightning and now starting to rain very heavily. I got quite concerned for a minute because I genuinely started to think there was a tornado starting to develop to my north, but it seemed to flatten out.

They are very active storms. I can see distant flashes from the EA/Essex cells, while this Kent cell is flashing like a beast, with crackling/rolling thunder and very bright flashes. Some very impressive IC crawler type lightning flashes too.

Impressive call from CWUK - paid no attention to forecasts today as didn't expect anything remotely thundery today, let alone what's going on now

Too far away to make out individual crawlers, but seen some lovely sheets nonetheless. Any CG's at all, or is it more elevated?

My attention is now turning towards the NW. Very bright lightning on that cell.

Yes some CGs observed here. Still lighting up the bedroom here as it slides past with nice distant grumbles of thunder!

Just watched the latest Beeb and MetO video forecasts - just about mentioned odd showers across the east, nothing vaguely heavy or thundery. Appears to have caught most by surprise

Might venture out for this one, that first storm being about 30 miles west of SE Essex was/is very impressive on the lightning front, as others have said the one further NE towards Chelmsford is flashing away now as well and should be a closer hit!

That was a tasty little storm. Passed right over us with loud thunder and lots of crawlers. I saw the Netweather storm risk was 57% tonight but ignored it as it looked like the convection earlier had died off and was fairly cold out. Tempting to drive South and follow it.

Still flirting with this part of the world. Fantastic lightning. Blue in hue, hardly any thunder and dry. This part of the world has had a lot of high based storms this year.

Starting to hear more frequent thunder now. Think this one will be a little bit closer than the last...

Just had loudest rumble yet and I think it's just started raining
